SAN MARCOS, Calif. \u2014 The University of San Diego women’s track team traveled up the road to Cal State San Marcos on Friday for the Mangrum Invite, delivering a series of personal bests and strong finishes across the distance events.<\/p>\n
Highlighting the day in\u00a0the 5K, Clare Boneau<\/a> continued her strong debut-season start\u00a0with a time of 17:12.93 \u2014 a USD freshman record\u00a0and seventh best mark all-time. It’s her second program freshman record she’s claimed, also taking the 1500m title in her collegiate debut to open the season in Point Loma on March 14. The Keller, Texas native finished in second place Friday, leading from the start up until the final 500 meters.\u00a0<\/p>\n Nathalie Green<\/a> also ran a personal best of 18:13.57 to finish 9th. Hana Husmann<\/a> and Amy O’Connell<\/a> rounded out the group at\u00a019:38.53 and 19:50.57, respectively. The Toreros opened competition in the 1500m, where freshman Sydney Tackett<\/a> led the way with a 12th-place finish and a personal best time of 4:51.98. Redshirt-junior\u00a0Camryn Kozak<\/a> also notched a personal best of her own, finishing\u00a0in 4:59.62. Senior Lizzie McVey<\/a> was the\u00a0third Torero to cross the line at 5:00.41, with Allison Kirby<\/a> rounded\u00a0out the Torero contingent\u00a0at 5:02.27. The 800m proved a strong event for the group’s depth, with junior Lilly Dow<\/a> leading the Toreros home in 10th with a time of 2:19.10. Freshman Kara Curry<\/a> followed closely at 2:20.31, as did fellow first year Talya Sepand<\/a>\u00a0who posted a personal best of 2:20.81. Ashleigh Schein<\/a> added another personal best\u00a0at 2:22.43,.
