remove the signage<\/a>, alleging he violated a city ordinance barring displays being erected \u201cwithin the perimeter of the city.\u201d<\/p>\nBut Wasserman, 62, claimed the order violated his First Amendment rights and sued the City of Long Beach, the chief of police, the city manager and specific police officers in Brooklyn Federal Court for $25 million.<\/p>\n
The Long Beach City Council voted Feb. 17 to settle with Wasserman to the tune of $50,000 \u2014 but the entrepreneur told The Post he wants more.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe judge said 50 grand is reasonable, I said, \u2018That\u2019s crap,’\u201d he told The Post.<\/p>\n
Wasserman, a former Democrat who switched parties in 2004, told The Post he\u2019s holding out for at least $100,000, which he plans to give to charity.<\/p>\n
The lawsuit is about principle \u2014 not money, he said.<\/p>\n
He said he\u2019s faced harassment from woke neighbors about his cars. Tamara Beckwith<\/p>\n
\u201cThis was always about what I\u2019m allowed to do within the confines of the law, I don\u2019t tell you how to live your f\u2013king life\u2026 don\u2019t tell me what I can and cannot do if I\u2019m not violating the law,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Wasserman said police officers visited his home too many times to count, citing complaints from neighbors<\/p>\n
Wasserman claimed his politics resulted in harassment from other residents. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey slashed my tires, broke my windshield and windows of my cars\u201d over the years, he claimed. The Long Beach Police Department did not immediately confirm Wasserman\u2019s allegations.<\/p>\n
But other neighbors have privately thanked him for having the \u201cguts\u201d to display the flags, Wasserman said. <\/p>\n
Still, Wasserman admitted he spent the past several years battling the courts in what he called \u201ca f\u2013king waste of time aggravation.\u201d<\/p>\n
Wasserman was told to remove his signs in 2021.<\/p>\n
