LA JOLLA, Calif. \u2013 Brown women’s water polo closed out its California trip with two close losses to No. 16 UC Davis and No. 15 UC San Diego on Saturday (March 28).<\/p>\n

Alexandra Love<\/a> led Brown on the day with nine goals in the two games and Ava Schoening<\/a> had eight.<\/p>\n

No. 16 UC Davis 17, No. 23 Brown 13

\nIn the first game of the day, Brown dropped a tough 17-13 game to No. 16 UC Davis.<\/p>\n

Ava Schoening<\/a> and Alexandra Love<\/a> tied for the team lead with four goals. Sofia Flierl<\/a> finished the game with three goals and Megan Newby<\/a> collected two.<\/p>\n

The Bears trailed 4-2 after the first quarter and 7-4 at halftime. UC Davis extended its lead going into the fourth by one goal. Both teams scored six goals each in the final eight minutes.<\/p>\n

No. 15 UC San Diego 21, No. 23 Brown 16

\nThe Bears closed out their California trip with a 21-16 loss at No. 15 UC San Diego.<\/p>\n

Alexandra Love<\/a> led Brown with five goals and Ava Schoening<\/a> tallied four scores. Madeliene Poissonnier, Ella Palmer<\/a> and Samantha Kim<\/a> all scored twice.<\/p>\n

After falling behind 6-3 in the first quarter, the Bears were able to climb back in, using a 3-0 run during the third quarter to make it a one-goal game. A goal by Love made the score 15-14 but UCSD took control on a 4-0 run to put the game out of reach.<\/p>\n

UP NEXT

\nBrown will close out its regular season with a home game against Harvard on Saturday (April 4) with the game starting at 1 p.m.<\/p>\n
