CORVALLIS, Ore. \u2014 San Diego Softball (14-18, 1-2 WCC) closed out its series against Oregon State (14-23, 2-1 WCC) on a high note Sunday afternoon, defeating the Beavers 8-2 at Kelly Field behind a dominant offensive performance and 6.2 innings of two-run ball from Kelsey Tadlock<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After falling behind 1-0 in the bottom of the second, the Toreros wasted little time responding. With two outs and runners on second and third, freshman Abrielle Diaz<\/a> crushed a three-run homer over the left-center field wall, giving the Toreros an early 3-1 lead in the top of the second.<\/p>\n

San Diego didn’t stop there, eventually putting the game away in the fourth inning. USD sent the entire lineup to the plate, and scored five runs in the inning that was kicked off by a solo-shot to left field from Shawnese Hogue-Lacy<\/a> \u2014 her third longball of the series \u2014 to extend the lead to 4-1.\u00a0 Kaylee Oh<\/a> then doubled, and Hailey Mulligan<\/a> delivered an RBI single center to make it 5-1. Carly Ruiz<\/a> singled and stole second, setting the stage for Kaitlyn Wynia<\/a> to clear the bases with a two-run double to left center pushing the advantage to 7-1. Michelle Delgado<\/a> capped off the inning with an RBI double to right center that plated Wynia to make it 8-1.<\/p>\n

Tadlock was sharp throughout, working 6.2 innings and stranding multiple base runners across the final three frames as she finished her day with two strikeouts, one walk, and just two runs allowed. Kaitlyn Bartlow<\/a> came in to record the final out, stranding two runners to slam the door.<\/p>\n

Diaz drove in three runs, with Wynia just behind driving in two, while Hogue-Lacy homered for the third consecutive game. Mulligan went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Ruiz reached once, stole a base, and scored once out of the nine hole.
