FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — With graduation approaching for high school seniors across the Central Valley, The Foundation for Fresno Unified Students is asking the community to help students prepare for college, internships and job interviews by donating professional clothing for its 4th Annual Suit Drive.<\/p>\n
The foundation, the philanthropic arm of Fresno Unified School District, aims to ensure students have access to the attire they need to make a strong first impression.<\/p>\n
“Looking your best will help you feel your best and help you put your best foot forward,” Executive Officer Linda Laettner said.<\/p>\n
Donations of gently used professional clothing are being accepted through April 10.<\/p>\n
Laettner said the drive welcomes a wide range of items.<\/p>\n
“We’re not just talking about jackets and full-on suits and ties. We’re also talking about trousers, blouses and other shirts that just look professional in nature,” she said.<\/p>\n
Donations can be dropped off at the following locations:<\/p>\n
Neighborhood Thrift – 353 Olive Ave. (Tower District)<\/p>\n
Neighborhood Thrift – 3139 W. Shaw (Shaw & Marks)<\/p>\n
Collection bin at Bullard High School located on West Browning Ave.<\/p>\n
Anthropologie – Fig Garden Village<\/p>\n
The foundation previously held one donation drive and one “Suited for Success” event each year.<\/p>\n
This year, they hosted two prior donation periods, and this one will be the last for this drive.<\/p>\n
The clothing has been used to help high schools host their own Suited for Success events.<\/p>\n
“We are trying to create something that spans over time, something that gives accessibility across the school year instead of just one time, one window,” Laettner said.<\/p>\n
So far, the Suit Drive has served more than 500 students.<\/p>\n
Last year, the effort collected 7,000 clothing items.<\/p>\n
This year, 6,500 items have already been donated, and organizers hope to surpass last year’s total.<\/p>\n
Laettner said the mission behind the drive goes beyond clothing; it’s about supporting students and helping them reach their potential.<\/p>\n
“I hope our students see that we see them,” she said. “I’m hoping that they feel in their hearts that we love them deeply and want them to be successful in their future.”<\/p>\n
