<\/a><\/p>\nAnaheim Transportation Network (ATN) will cease operations after March 31, 2026<\/a>, after failing to stabilize its finances, leaving the future of resort-area transportation in flux for the more than 8 million annual riders who relied on the ART shuttle system<\/p>\n As of February 9, the ART system had already begun winding down its operations<\/a> while the City of Anaheim searched for a replacement.<\/p>\n For years, ATN connected Disneyland Resort, nearby hotels, Anaheim Canyon Metrolink Station, downtown Anaheim, and the Platinum Triangle, serving as a centralized transit option in a district that now welcomes more than 25 million visitors each year.<\/p>\n As detailed in a report from the OC Register<\/a>, Disney has said shuttle service for its guests will continue, though specific details have not yet been announced. <\/p>\n Much of ATN\u2019s ridership came from the Toy Story Parking Area shuttle route to Disneyland\u2019s main entrance, accounting for roughly 83% of total riders this fiscal year, representing just under 7 million riders.<\/p>\n At the same time, the Orange County Transportation Authority said many of ATN\u2019s routes are already paralleled by existing OC Bus service, while Garden Grove is launching its own shuttle for 10 hotels in its tourism district, funded in part through hotel-stay assessments and rider fees.<\/p>\n Over the near term, Anaheim officials are exploring whether another operator could eventually replace ATN on a broader scale, though city representatives made clear that no such successor system will be ready immediately. Meanwhile, a group of major hotels is working on an independent shuttle network for guests, though hotel representatives expect that replacing ATN\u2019s service structure will come at a significantly higher cost.<\/p>\n Longer term, Anaheim\u2019s transportation planning is becoming intertwined with several major development projects. City officials are looking to the implications on area traffic and transit following developments on DisneylandForward, Disney\u2019s long-range expansion plan<\/a>, which includes a new 6,000-space parking structure, transportation hub, and security screening area on the east side of the resort. A demolition permit filed just last month indicates the early stages of development are underway on the new parking structure.<\/a><\/p>\n Unless a see news of a single organization willing to subsume the services provided by ART, or plans are announced for a dramatic consolidation effort, the shutdown appears to be pushing Anaheim away from a single transit model and toward a more fragmented system of public busses, hotel shuttles, and Disney-operated transportation.<\/p>\n Garden Grove Disneyland Resort Shuttle Service Launching Soon<\/p>\n In a move that alleviates at least some element of service loss resulting from this shutdown, the City of Garden Grove and the GGTID are launching a new Disneyland Resort transportation shuttle service<\/a>.<\/p>\n According to the press release, the shuttle service operates throughout the day between the Disneyland Resort transit hub and 10 nearby hotels.
