It marked the Scarlet Knights&#8217; third straight win and second consecutive on the West Coast after defeating USC last Saturday in Los Angeles.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nFreshman <a href=\"https:\/\/scarletknights.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/kate-theofield\/15884\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15884\" target=\"_blank\">Kate Theofield<\/a> matched a career high with seven points on four goals and three helpers. RU featured nine different goal scorers in the win, which included multi-goal outings from junior <a href=\"https:\/\/scarletknights.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/payton-tini\/15870\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15870\" target=\"_blank\">Payton Tini<\/a> and freshman <a href=\"https:\/\/scarletknights.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/annalise-messina\/15880\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15880\" target=\"_blank\">Annalise Messina<\/a>. Senior <a href=\"https:\/\/scarletknights.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/kayleigh-coughlin\/12120\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12120\" target=\"_blank\">Kayleigh Coughlin<\/a> and sophomore <a href=\"https:\/\/scarletknights.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/caroline-ling\/15859\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15859\" target=\"_blank\">Caroline Ling<\/a> each had two assists.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nSophomore goalkeeper <a href=\"https:\/\/scarletknights.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/stella-quilty\/15865\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15865\" target=\"_blank\">Stella Quilty<\/a> tied a career high with 13 saves to earn her second straight win in cage. Senior <a href=\"https:\/\/scarletknights.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/lily-dixon\/12124\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12124\" target=\"_blank\">Lily Dixon<\/a> caused four turnovers and helped Rutgers force the Aztecs into 16 turnovers as a team. Senior <a href=\"https:\/\/scarletknights.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/katie-buck\/12121\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12121\" target=\"_blank\">Katie Buck<\/a> secured five draw controls, including the 200th of her collegiate career.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nDixon netted the first goal of the game four minutes in, taking a pass from Theofield and finishing for a quick 1-0 lead. Rutgers netted three more before the first break, including a free-position goal from rookie <a href=\"https:\/\/scarletknights.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/gabby-mariani\/15879\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15879\" target=\"_blank\">Gabby Mariani<\/a> for its first three-goal lead of the night. SDSU countered with a score late in the quarter to make it 4-2 Scarlet Knights after the first 15 minutes of play.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nDefense was on display in the next period, with Quilty stopping five shots in the second quarter. Rookie <a href=\"https:\/\/scarletknights.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/campbell-spillett\/15883\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15883\" target=\"_blank\">Campbell Spillett<\/a> netted her first goal of her career, while Theofield added her second of the night to give RU a 7-5 advantage at halftime.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nQuilty finished with 10 saves on 19 shots faced heading into the locker room. RU forced the Aztecs into eight first-half turnovers and was nine-of-nine on clear attempts before the midpoint.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nSan Diego State scored three straight goals in the third quarter to take its first lead before Rutgers responded with two consecutive goals. Sophomore <a href=\"https:\/\/scarletknights.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/francesca-urtis\/15872\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15872\" target=\"_blank\">Francesca Urtis<\/a> found senior <a href=\"https:\/\/scarletknights.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/ava-chiarella\/12119\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12119\" target=\"_blank\">Ava Chiarella<\/a> to tie the game at the 4:40 mark, while Theofield&#8217;s third of the night made it 9-8 Scarlet Knights heading into the fourth quarter.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nIt was all Rutgers down the stretch, as the Scarlet Knights ended the night on a 5-0 scoring run. Tini scored twice during the stretch, while Messina, Theofield and sophomore <a href=\"https:\/\/scarletknights.com\/sports\/womens-lacrosse\/roster\/delainey-sutley\/15867\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15867\" target=\"_blank\">Delainey Sutley<\/a> all contributed goals to help RU put away their third consecutive road win.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nUp Next<br \/>\nRutgers faces No. 1 Maryland on Saturday in College Park.
