San Diego police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a 6-year-old boy Saturday as he was trying to cross a street in the Chollas View neighborhood, authorities said.<\/p>\n
The collision occurred as the child crossed University Avenue mid-block around 6:50 p.m. The driver, who was heading west on University when the vehicle struck the boy, did not stop, police said.<\/p>\n
The vehicle was last seen heading north on 54th Street. A description of the vehicle was not released.<\/p>\n
The injured boy was rushed by ambulance to a hospital, but he did not survive his injuries. His name was not released.<\/p>\n
Investigators are looking for witnesses and surveillance video that might have captured the collision, said police Officer Sarah Foster.<\/p>\n
