BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 Yolanda Rojo<\/a>\u2019s family is asking the community to help support her two young daughters after Rojo was killed in Bakersfield.<\/p>\n

On March 25, Bakersfield police were called to an apartment complex on College Avenue for a report of an assault. Officers said they found Rojo, 30, suffering from stab wounds. She was taken to Kern Medical, where she later died.<\/a><\/p>\n

Her brother, Noe Castro, remembered Rojo as a devoted family member and mother. \u201cI just want everyone to know that she was an absolutely amazing person,\u201d Castro said. \u201cShe was like a second mom to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Castro said Rojo played a central role in keeping the family close. \u201cI feel like she was the… like, the glue that kept us all together,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Castro said the family has started a GoFundMe intended to help support Rojo\u2019s children<\/a>, including extracurricular activities and other necessities for her 4- and 6-year-old daughters. \u201cYolanda always made sure that my nieces, whatever they wanted to do, she made sure that she put in enough work by herself you know to fund whatever it was,\u201d Castro said.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, one of the girls was able to perform at an L.A. Rams versus Cardinals game, something Castro said would not have been possible without Rojo. \u201cThats why we want this trust fund to help them still be able to do the things that they already did because of Yolanda,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added that continuing those activities is one way the family hopes to keep Rojo\u2019s memory alive.<\/p>\n

Police identified 33-year-old Victor Farias as the suspect in the investigation. According to the Kern County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Farias is facing multiple felony charges, including first-degree murder, domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon, and child endangerment. The relationship between the two is still unclear.<\/p>\n
