LOS ANGELES – An alleged armed suspect is dead after Los Angeles County sheriff\u2019s deputies were ambushed in East Los Angeles<\/a> early Wednesday morning, officials said.<\/p>\n What we know:<\/p>\n LA County sheriff’s officials said the incident began with a 911 call in the 1400 block of South Downey Road, near the intersection of Triggs Street, just before 2 a.m.<\/p>\n When deputies arrived, authorities said they were met with gunfire. The shots were so intense they pinned down two deputies. As the rounds continued, the East Los Angeles station deployed a BearCat armored vehicle to shield the deputies and move them to safety.<\/p>\n Investigators said a relative of the suspect was home at the time of the shooting.<\/p>\n Eventually, deputies returned fire.
