BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 CHP is looking for the driver and the vehicle responsible for hitting and killing a man in a hit-and-run crash in Oildale Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n
The California Highway Patrol said on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at around 6:46 a.m., officers were called to Manor Street, south of E. Norris Street, for a report of a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian.<\/p>\n
CHP said a preliminary investigation found that a pedestrian, identified as a male, was walking on Manor Street at an unknown direction. At the same time, an unidentified vehicle was driving southbound on Manor Street, South of E. Norris Street at an unknown rate of speed, approaching the pedestrian.<\/p>\n
According to CHP, for reasons still under investigation, the unknown driver of the unidentified vehicle crashed into the pedestrian.<\/p>\n
After the crash, the driver of the unidentified vehicle drove away from the scene in an unknown direction before CHP arrived, according to CHP.<\/p>\n
The male pedestrian landed within the west shoulder of Manor Street. As a result of the crash, the pedestrian died from his injuries.<\/p>\n
CHP said at this time, it is unknown whether alcohol and\/or drugs were a factor in this crash.<\/p>\n
