(KOLO) &#8211; A fugitive sex offender has been arrested in California.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Preston Jakes was arrested on March 13 in Long Beach in a partnership between the U.S. Marshals and Nevada State Police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Jakes was convicted of attempted sexual assault in July of 2013 after engaging in illicit sexual contact with a minor. He was given 96 to 240 months in prison and was paroled in April 2021 before absconding from supervision in April 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Jakes was extradited from California back to Nevada on Tuesday and is now in custody at the Clark County Jail. <\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 KOLO.
