LONG BEACH, CA — Long Beach Police say they’re investigating the Wednesday morning stabbing of a man that temporarily disrupted service along a Metro light rail line.

Also under investigation is a shooting that took place early Monday.

In the shooting case, officers responded about 5 a.m. today to reports of a stabbing in the area of Pacific Avenue and Fifth Street, according to Long Beach Police Department public information officer Andrea Moran.

Officers arrived and found the man with stab wounds to his upper body.

“Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital,” Moran said. “The motive for the incident is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.”

The stabbing disrupted service on the Metro ‘A’ light rail line, commonly known as the Blue Line.

Reports from the scene showed a light rail train stopped at the
location, and Metro said bus shuttles are operating between the Pacific and Anaheim stations.

In the shooting case, police are searching for possible suspects in the incident, which took place near the Upper Westside neighborhood and the Long Beach (710) Freeway.

Police were called at about 12:32 a.m. Monday to the 2900 block of Gale Avenue, west of the freeway, regarding a shots-fired call.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found evidence of a crime and that determined a “no-hit” shooting had occurred, police said.

The suspect or suspects ran from the scene prior to their officers’ arrival, according to the LBPD.

No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.
