A new community health clinic offering medical and dental services to low-income and formerly unhoused residents opened Wednesday at an affordable housing complex in Panorama City, with Rep. Luz Rivas, D-Arleta, joining local leaders for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.<\/p>\n
The satellite clinic, operated by the San Fernando Community Health Center, is located within the Coraz\u00f3n del Valle development, a 180-unit affordable housing complex designed to integrate supportive services with housing.<\/p>\n
Officials said the clinic will provide primary and pediatric care, dental services and treatment for chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension, while also serving residents in the surrounding community.<\/p>\n
Rivas helped secure $2 million in state funding for the project in 2022 while serving in the California Assembly, according to her office.<\/p>\n
“I’m excited to be welcoming the San Fernando Community Health Center to Panorama City where it will help play a key role in providing quality medical and dental care to those facing housing and economic instability in our community,” Rivas said in a statement.<\/p>\n
The clinic includes two medical exam rooms and two dental treatment rooms and is intended to expand access to care for patients regardless of income or insurance status, officials said.<\/p>\n
Leaders said the project reflects a broader effort to link health care access with stable housing, bringing together nonprofit, community and industry partners.<\/p>\n
“When our patients are empowered to take charge of their own health, it strengthens the well-being of the entire community,” San Fernando Community Health Center CEO Audrey Simons said.<\/p>\n
