SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Long Beach State dropped a 6-1 decision to Cal Poly on the road Tuesday at the Ronca Tennis Center, moving to 11-8 overall and 4-2 in Big West play.<\/p>\n
The Beach opened the match on a strong note, securing the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. Cecilia Costa<\/a> and Paulina Franco Martinessi<\/a> battled to a 7-6 (7-5) win at the top spot, while Pamela Badillo<\/a> and Thea Jagare<\/a> added a 6-4 victory to clinch the early 1-0 advantage.<\/p>\n In singles, Cal Poly controlled the match from start to finish, sweeping all six courts to secure the team victory. The Mustangs picked up straight-set wins on courts two and three, while also prevailing in a pair of three-set battles to extend their lead.<\/p>\n Costa pushed her match to three sets at the No. 1 position, responding after dropping the first set before ultimately falling 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.
