While you may think quakes are a western US problem, some of the largest temblors in US history have happened in the East.<\/p>\n

BOULDER CREEK, Calif. \u2013 Residents across parts of central California<\/a> were shaken by a 4.6 earthquake<\/a> in the early Thursday morning hours.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the quake occurred around 1:41am Pacific Time, with the epicenter less than a mile outside of Boulder Creek<\/a>, California, which is about 27 miles southwest of San Jose<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Over 25,000 reports of shaking came into the USGS. Weak to moderate shakes were felt as far north as Sacramento<\/a>, including cities like San Francisco<\/a> and San Jose, and as far south as King City<\/a>, along with some reports in Fresno<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There have been no reports of damage caused by this earthquake, and no tsunami warning is in effect.
