FRESNO, California –\u00a0Utah State women’s tennis earned a 4-2 road victory over Fresno State on Thursday at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Complex.<\/p>\n
Doubles\u00a0 Singles\u00a0 After Fresno State picked up a point at the fourth position, freshman Terezia Mlkva<\/a> provided the clinching point at No.1 singles, outlasting her opponent in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. \nUtah State claimed the doubles point with wins at the second and third positions. After Fresno State took the early lead with a 6-3 win at the top spot, sophomore Terezia Mlkva<\/a> and sophomore Kylee Sperry<\/a> responded with a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles to even things up. Sophomore Maria Paula Ramos Garcia<\/a> and freshman Chahd Tourkhani<\/a> then secured the point for the Aggies with a 6-3 win at the third position.<\/p>\n
\nThe Aggies carried that momentum into singles play, earning victories at the first, fifth and sixth positions to secure the team win. At No. 5 singles, freshman Chahd Tourkhani<\/a> delivered a 6-4, 6-2 victory to double USU’s lead. Following a Bulldog point at the third position, redshirt junior Magdalena Nunez Pureco<\/a> responded with a\u00a0straight-sets win at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-2, to put the Aggies up, 3-1.<\/p>\n
