Margaret Teichert, who first knew Hillyard from their time at Deterding Elementary School, said, “I’m very touched to see who she has grown up into being.”Teichert noted Hillyard’s deep roots in Sacramento, having attended Rio Americano High School and UC Davis before moving to the Bay Area. “I know that our lives have not really intersected very much over the last few years. But I also see how many lives hers has touched,” Teichert said.Hillyard disappeared on March 25 after leaving her home near Oakland’s Lake Merritt. Since then, hundreds have helped search for her in the areas she frequented. Police said she was last seen in video footage at a park around 4:30 p.m. on March 25, wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, and white sneakers with black stripes.”We’re just really hoping for good news and a safe return,” Teichert said. She hopes people in Sacramento can also keep an eye out in case Hillyard came to the area. “If for no other reason than to remain hopeful and optimistic, I think it’s good to be aware that she does have a lot of connections here and it would be good and helpful to pay attention and keep an eye out,” Teichert said.Authorities have said she is at risk due to a medical condition.
