The facility will remain open.<\/p>\n<p>The total extent of Oracle\u2019s layoffs hasn\u2019t been confirmed, but the software company also laid off 491 workers in Seattle, according to a separate notice with Washington state officials. Last fall,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/tech\/article\/oracle-layoffs-tech-21031340.php\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Oracle laid off\u00a0254 employees in the Bay Area<\/a> as part of a major round of cuts affecting workers around the country.<\/p>\n<p>Oracle had 162,000 workers as of May 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Shares of Oracle were up 0.79% on Thursday and up nearly 4% this week, but are down more than 25% in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The company said in January it was raising $50 billion in debt and equity to help fund infrastructure for artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>Tech layoffs have continued as companies ramp up AI spending. Meta <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/tech\/article\/meta-layoffs-silicon-valley-22186184.php\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">laid off 198 workers<\/a> in Silicon Valley as it also spends billions on AI.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Oracle\u2019s mass layoff this week will affect 158 workers in\u00a0Pleasanton, according to state filings.
