UPDATE: They have been identified by the Fresno County Coroner\u2019s Office as\u00a0Martha Hernandez, 41, of Fresno and her son,\u00a0 Adrian Hernandez, 9, of Fresno<\/p>\n
FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) \u2014 A 41-year-old woman and her 9-year-old son are dead following a crash that sent their car into a canal.<\/p>\n
Police were called out to a crash on McKinley Avenue and Fresno Street just before 2 am Monday.<\/p>\n
Officers say the woman was driving a Dodge when she was hit by the driver of a Honda Pilot who ran a red light.<\/p>\n
The Fresno Fire Department was able to rescue the woman. She was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where she died.<\/p>\n
Shortly after, authorities learned that her son may have been in the car as well.<\/p>\n
His body was found hours later, about two miles away from where the crash happened.<\/p>\n
Police are still searching for the driver of the Honda Pilot, who they believe was under the influence.<\/p>\n
