This week\u2019s random question for San Francisco Giants<\/a> and staff isn\u2019t all that random. Between the Artemis II voyage\u00a0 and the box office success of \u201cProject Hail Mary,\u201d the Chronicle asked about space.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It turns out that \u201cInterstellar\u201d is popular in the clubhouse, and no one has yet seen Ryan Gosling\u2019s latest film \u2014 it\u2019s tough to find time to get to the movies once the season starts.<\/p>\n

Are you interested in outer space and\/or what\u2019s your favorite space movie?<\/p>\n

Matt Chapman<\/a>, third baseman: I\u00a0 love it. I mean, it\u2019s a big mystery. I like all the mysteries. I like conspiracies, too, stuff like that. I think it\u2019d definitely be crazy to think we\u2019re the only thing out there, but it\u2019s hard to form an opinion when there\u2019s information overload, but I just kind of take it all in. But, yeah, space is cool. I\u2019ve always wanted to go. I pay attention to that kind of thing\u00a0\u2014 I saw some things about this one. (Grins.) I\u00a0 mean, that is to say, if we\u2019ve ever gone to the moon.<\/p>\n

Tony Vitello<\/a>, manager: I\u2019ve gotten a ton of grief about the fact I\u2019ve never seen \u201cInterstellar\u201d and now it\u2019s definitely more than on my radar, but there are very few times where I\u2019m just sitting with two free hours and have a TV. I don\u2019t think I\u2019m into space movies as much as I need to be, because I have not seen that. \u201cApollo 13\u201d sticks out to me because it was informative, and anytime Tom Hanks is involved, it\u2019s phenomenal. But ever since I was younger, I don\u2019t know why, but \u201cStar Trek\u201d kind of weirded me out a little bit. Maybe it\u2019s fear of the unknown, but I\u2019ve never geeked out about it. I like \u201cStar Wars,\u201d so maybe that was kind of the sci-fi for me. I was young, so I can admit I had all the figurines and all that stuff going on. So I was pretty into \u201cStar Wars,\u201d the original three movies. After that, I kind of lost interest.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve just paid attention more than anything to the conspiracy theories about whether we\u2019ve actually been on the moon. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s fun when people get malicious and stuff like that, but when you have a lot of locker room downtime and guys start silly arguments, it\u2019s comical, and I think those conversations are interesting.<\/p>\n

Keaton Winn<\/a>, pitcher: I love \u201cInterstellar.\u201d It\u2019s just my favorite movie of all time, it\u2019s got a great story line. And I don\u2019t know it\u2019s like, cutting-edge stuff, like when they go to the planet, and every sound like, tick, you hear in the background, it\u2019s been a day on Earth. I haven\u2019t seen \u201cProject Hail Mary\u201d yet but I want to, it looks good.<\/p>\n

JT Brubaker, pitcher: \u201cInterstellar\u201d is great, and \u201cInception\u201d I would also say, it\u2019s not really a space movie, but it\u2019s kind of like that random, weird, different dimension-type stuff. I\u2019m definitely into space stuff. It\u2019s been a while since I\u2019ve watched \u201cStar Wars.\u201d I think the launch was during one of our games in San Diego, but I was aware of it, I saw some things on social media.<\/p>\n

Robbie Ray<\/a>, pitcher: Obviously, you have \u201cStar Wars,\u201d which is a pretty big deal and I got into the \u201cAlien\u201d series. I\u2019m not a scary movie, thriller guy, but I did watch those. I\u2019m not usually into that kind of movie, but the original \u201cAlien\u201d movies and then \u201cPrometheus\u201d and the ones that are more recent are spectacular.<\/p>\n

Blade Tidwell, pitcher: I\u2019m not really interested in space, but \u201cInterstellar\u201d is one of my favorite movies.
