LONG BEACH, CA \u2014 A man who was struck and killed by an SUV in Long Beach on Saturday has been identified by authorities.<\/p>\n
The victim was ID’d by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner as 67-year-old Darryl Roundtree.<\/p>\n
Officers responded at 7:55 p.m. Saturday to the area of Pacific Place and West Wardlow Road, where the victim was found in the roadway, the Long Beach Police Department reported.<\/p>\n
Roundtree, who sustained blunt traumatic injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.<\/p>\n
“The preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a 2025 Subaru Crosstrek was traveling southbound on Pacific Place in the number one lane when he struck a pedestrian walking in the roadway, outside of a marked crosswalk,” according to a police statement.<\/p>\n
The motorist driving the Subaru stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, authorities said. Neither speed, distracted driving, nor driving under the influence was believed to be a factor in the crash, police said.<\/p>\n
