(NewsNation<\/a>) \u2014 Police in San Francisco are currently looking for a British tourist who went missing just as she was taking a solo trip to California.<\/p>\n

According to local news outlet KTVU, Katherine Esther Gamboa Kerwood flew into the San Francisco International Airport on March 31 for a weeklong sightseeing trip<\/a>. Her family said she\u2019d planned to make stops in Sacramento, Calaveras Big Trees State Park, San Francisco and Santa Cruz.<\/p>\n

Kerwood told her family she would be checking into a hostel in Sacramento on Tuesday, March 31, but they later learned she never did that. They say the last text they got from her was sent Friday, April 3.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s generally very responsive, and the fact that she didn\u2019t message for hours is the first signal,\u201d family friend Ali Zaidi said.<\/p>\n

Her father said there was security camera footage from the airport that shows Kerwood meeting a man who was carrying flowers once she got there. They later found out that she\u2019d met the man, only identified as David, in the U.K.<\/p>\n

She has been reported missing to both the San Francisco Police Department and to authorities in the U.K. Kerwood had a scheduled flight to return to London on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
