A fundraising campaign through Peace Officers Research Association of California has been launched to support a Fresno police officer and his family after doctors diagnosed their newborn son with a serious congenital heart condition.<\/p>\n

Fresno Police Officer Kobe Biedermann\u2019s son, born Jan. 17, has been diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot<\/a>, a complex heart defect that includes two holes in the heart, one measuring about 9 millimeters and the other about 4 millimeters.<\/p>\n

Specialists at Stanford University have scheduled open\u2011heart surgery for the infant on May 12. The baby is expected to remain hospitalized for nearly five weeks following the procedure.<\/p>\n

As Biedermann remains at his son\u2019s side and has nearly exhausted his available leave, colleagues and supporters have turned to PORAC\u2019s Fund a Hero platform to raise money for the family.<\/p>\n

The campaign aims to collect $20,000 to help ease the financial strain and allow the family to focus on the child\u2019s recovery. The campaign had gained $3,690 at the time of publication.<\/p>\n

Donations to the \u201cBaby Biedermann\u2019s Fight\u201d<\/a> campaign are being sought from the law enforcement community and other supporters.<\/p>\n
