On April 19, 2022, Anaheim police responded to an assault at Stadium House apartments<\/a> on the 2100 block of Katella Avenue, near State College Boulevard, around 6:50 a.m.<\/p>\n Inside a fifth-floor unit, the two victims and the suspect were located, the O.C. Register reported. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene and Fahim was hospitalized with minor injuries before he was later arrested on suspicion of murder.<\/p>\n A knife, believed to be the assault weapon, was also found at the scene.<\/p>\n Investigators said Fahim and one of the victims, Cuomo, were coworkers at a wealth-management firm<\/a> in Newport Beach.<\/p>\n Ramy Fahim, 30, pleaded guilty to two counts of murder in the ambush and stabbing deaths of two Chapman University alumni. (Google Maps)<\/p>\n The second victim, Bahm, was Cuomo\u2019s roommate and he did not have any connection to the suspect, authorities said. Cuomo and Bahm were roommates who graduated from Chapman University less than a year before the fatal stabbings.<\/p>\n Fahim was later charged with the victims\u2019 deaths<\/a> and on April 7, 2026, he admitted to two counts of murder<\/a> with special-circumstances enhancements for lying in wait and committing a murder to avoid arrest.<\/p>\n Fahim\u2019s motive for the killing remains unclear and according to court records, he had no previous record of violent crime.<\/p>\n In October 2022, Cuomo\u2019s mother, Wendy Cuomo, filed a wrongful death lawsuit<\/a> against Pence Wealth Management, the company her son and Fahim worked at, claiming that Fahim suffered from a lifelong mental illness that caused him \u201cserious difficulty in refraining from violent conduct\u201d and eventually allowed him to turn his temper on Cuomo and other coworkers.<\/p>\n The complaint also alleged that Fahim was hired and protected by the company\u2019s leaders because his mother, Nabila Makram, was serving as the Egyptian Minister of Immigration and Expatriate Affairs and was also a personal friend of Pence Wealth Management president and co-founder Laila Pence, the Register reported.<\/a><\/p>\n The suit alleges that Fahim was known for his heated temper, and at times was seen pounding a table or screaming at coworkers and that he was given the \u201cgreen light\u201d to \u201charass, intimidate and threaten\u201d other employees.<\/p>\n She also named Advanced Real Estate Services in the suit, the company that owns and operates the apartment where her son was living. She accused them of allowing Fahim to spend a significant amount of time in the complex\u2019s common areas in the hours leading up to the killings, despite the complex being a secure facility.<\/p>\n She accused Fahim of using company employee records to look up Cuomo\u2019s home address and apartment number. Her attorney alleged that Cuomo \u201chad been subject to threats by [Fahim] and added to a list of coworkers he was upset or angry with. For whatever reason, he had it out for [Cuomo] and a couple other employees.\u201d<\/p>\n She received a text from her son on the morning he was killed and said just moments later, as he and Bahm left their apartment for work, they were ambushed by Fahim and stabbed to death.<\/p>\n Fahim previously pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. Jury selection for the sanity phase of his trial is currently underway at the Santa Ana courthouse. The trial\u2019s results will determine whether he faces up to life in prison without parole or will be sent to a state hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n Officials with Pence Wealth Management and Advanced Real Estate Services, along with an attorney representing Fahim, did not respond to the O.C.
