OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. \u2013 A man with an extensive criminal history has been charged with multiple felonies in connection with a series of break-ins in Pontiac and Independence Township.<\/p>\n
Terry David Manney, 48, is accused of carrying out several burglaries early Easter Sunday (April 5), targeting gas stations in Pontiac and Independence Township, along with a retail store in Pontiac, in less than an hour, according to police. <\/p>\n
Investigators also linked him to an April 1 break-in at a Pontiac market.<\/p>\n
Manney was arraigned Wednesday in 52-2 District Court in Independence Township on a breaking and entering charge. <\/p>\n
He is being held in the Oakland County Jail on a $75,000 bond.<\/p>\n
Manney is expected to be arraigned as soon as Thursday in Pontiac\u2019s 50th District Court on four additional felony counts, including safe breaking, breaking and entering, and breaking and entering with intent. <\/p>\n
Police said the safe-breaking charge, the most serious offense, carries a potential sentence of up to life in prison upon conviction.<\/p>\n
Officials said surveillance video from the incidents shows a suspect using a crowbar to force entry into the businesses. <\/p>\n
In one case, police alleged that a large amount of cash was stolen, while in another, about 30 cartons of cigarettes were stolen. <\/p>\n
Police said the 48-year-old man was also seen leaving in a dark-colored vehicle.<\/p>\n
Detectives identified Manney as the suspect and arrested him without incident at his residence. <\/p>\n
Cash and cigarettes were recovered and seized as evidence.<\/p>\n
Police said an arrest warrant had previously been issued for Manney on April 11, 2025, for absconding from parole. <\/p>\n
Officials said he has 16 felony convictions in Florida, multiple arrests in Ohio, and five convictions in Michigan, including offenses related to drugs, theft, and break-ins.<\/p>\n
