{"id":259758,"date":"2026-04-09T18:44:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-09T18:44:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/259758\/"},"modified":"2026-04-09T18:44:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-09T18:44:07","slug":"la28-opens-global-ticket-sales-nbc-los-angeles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/259758\/","title":{"rendered":"LA28 opens global ticket sales \u2013 NBC Los Angeles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After a buzzy, week-long <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/olympics\/2028-los-angeles\/la28-first-ticket-drop-2027-verified-resale-program-olympics\/3868650\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">LA28 ticket drop<\/a> for residents in Southern California and Oklahoma City, LA28 officially launched <a href=\"https:\/\/la28.org\/en\/newsroom\/la28-launches-global-olympic-ticket-sales.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">global ticket sales<\/a> on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Known as \u201cDrop 1\u201d of general ticket sales, this drop will run through April 19.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s how it works:<\/p>\n<p>Registered fans who were randomly selected through the LA28 Draw to receive time slots for Drop 1 should log in during their designated time to buy tickets for any Olympic event, subject to availability; this includes the Opening Ceremony and the Closing Ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>Reminder emails about those time slots will be sent to selected fans 24 hours and 3 hours before time slots begin, with a link to the ticketing platform.<\/p>\n<p>LA28 tickets will be on sale across all sports, plus the Opening Ceremony and Closing Ceremony. More than\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/olympics\/2028-los-angeles\/venues-la-olympics\/3844808\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">40 venues across LA<\/a>\u00a0will host 36 sports for the 2028 Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>Once the first ticket is added to a cart, fans have a 30-minute window to complete their online checkout process.<\/p>\n<p>Fans can buy\u00a0up to 12 tickets\u00a0for Olympic events \u2014 including a maximum of four Opening Ceremony tickets and four Closing Ceremony tickets \u2014 plus up to 12 soccer tournament tickets that don\u2019t count toward that general 12-ticket maximum.<\/p>\n<p>According to LA28, fans who don\u2019t meet their ticket maximum or who miss their ticket purchasing window will be automatically entered into future draws.<\/p>\n<p>LA28 ticket prices<\/p>\n<p>According to LA28, more than 1 million tickets will be available for the 2028 Summer Olympics starting at $28.<\/p>\n<p>However, when some SoCal residents tried to buy $28 tickets during the local drop that started on April 2, many told NBCLA that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/video\/news\/local\/trying-to-buy-la28-tickets-be-prepared-to-pay-more-than-expected\/3872202\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">there were no $28 options<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In a press release Thursday, LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover said \u201chundreds of thousands of $28 tickets\u201d were sold to LA and Oklahoma City locals during the presale, calling them \u201cthe lowest priced Olympic tickets in modern history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>LA28 said it remains committed to \u201cproviding a variety of ticket options.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ticket pricing varies by sport, competition stage, and ticket category, but LA28 said nearly 50 percent of all Olympic tickets are under $200.<\/p>\n<p>More than three-quarters of all Olympic tickets \u2014 which include finals \u2014 are under $400,\u201d LA28\u2019s press release said. \u201cOnly about 5% of tickets \u2014 prime seats to marquee events \u2014 cost more than $1,000.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>LA28 said because the 2028 Summer Olympics are privately funded, the more than $7 billion operation is funded by ticket sales, hospitality, and sponsorship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGetting the revenue mix right will mean delivering something unprecedented: a Games that generates a lasting financial legacy for Los Angeles,\u201d organizers noted.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe first LA28 ticket drop is coming in early April. Camilla Rambaldi reports for the NBC4 News at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>More LA28 ticket opportunities are coming<\/p>\n<p>More than 5 million people signed up for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/news\/local\/la28-los-angeles-olympics-ticket-draw\/3852691\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the LA28 ticket draw<\/a> for a chance to snag those coveted time slots.<\/p>\n<p>According to LA28, the next ticket drop is coming later this year, although a specific date has not yet been released.<\/p>\n<p>Fans who haven\u2019t already registered for ticket draws, will also have additional opportunities to register for draws \u201cin the coming months.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fans can\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tickets.la28.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sign up via LA28\u2019s website<\/a>\u00a0to be notified about future ticket draws.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, registered fans will be able to buy tickets to the Paralympic Games through the Paralympic Ticket Draw in 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, LA28 announced it will open a verified multi-platform\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/la28.org\/en\/newsroom\/la28-announces-verified-multi-platform-ticket-resale-program-opening-in-2027.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ticket resale program<\/a>\u00a0in 2027 \u201cwith multiple points of access for LA28 ticket resale.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>AXS and EVENTIM were already named the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/la28.org\/en\/newsroom\/la28-announces-tickets-and-hospitality-packages-go-on-sale-for-olympic-games-in-2026-and-paralympic-games-in-2027.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cOfficial Secondary Ticket Marketplace\u201d<\/a>\u00a0for LA28, and now other resale platforms will include Ticketmaster and Sports Illustrated Tickets.<\/p>\n<p>Those platforms will not make LA28 tickets available for resale until 2027, so if people see LA28 resale tickets on any website before 2027, those tickets have\u00a0not\u00a0been verified by LA28.<\/p>\n<p>A strong showing at &#8216;Locals Presale&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>LA28 called the response to the first drop of tickets of Southern California and Oklahoma City \u201cunprecedented.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn its first week, LA28 significantly exceeded first week sales for any previous Olympic Games, with every one of those tickets going to LA and OKC locals,\u201d a press release said.<\/p>\n<p>LA28 said local interest is exceeding available ticket inventory for many sports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled by the level of interest and enthusiasm in tickets to the Games, and we&#8217;re ready to welcome millions of others to Los Angeles in 2028,&#8221; Hoover added.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMore details for soccer fans about the 2028 Olympics.
