Cambodia Town will soon boast a golden greeting to residents and visitors, as the City of Long Beach unveiled designs for the Cambodia Town Grand Entrance on Saturday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The signature landmark was revealed at the annual Cambodia Town Parade and Culture Festival. It will be located on Anaheim Street to welcome people into the largest Cambodian community in the United States.<\/p>\n

\u201cCambodia Town is an integral cultural heartbeat of Council District 6, and this project is a meaningful step toward honoring the Cambodian community\u2019s heritage and identity,\u201d said Sixth District Councilmember Dr. Suely Saro in a public statement. \u201cBy working together with residents, we\u2019re building a gateway that reflects the pride, resilience and vibrancy of this neighborhood.\u201d<\/p>\n

Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in 2027, pending full funding and completion of the bid and award process. While a majority of the funding has been secured, the Cambodia Town Advisory Group is launching a fundraising campaign for additional funding to support a perforated screen to encase the gateway sign.<\/p>\n

The Cambodia Town Grand Entrance design was presented and informed by community feedback, through surveys, votes and in-person responses at last year\u2019s Cambodia Town Parade and Culture Festival. This project is part of Long Beach\u2019s Elevate \u201828<\/a> plan, an initiative to improve and enhance public areas, streets and cultural centers ahead of the 2028 Olympic Games.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter a meaningful process with the community, we are proud to unveil the Cambodia Town Gateway\u2014a landmark that reflects the pride, history, and cultural richness of Long Beach\u2019s Cambodian community,\u201d said Mayor Rex Richardson in a public statement. \u201cCambodia Town is a cornerstone of our city, and this gateway stands as a powerful tribute to a community whose resilience and contributions have helped shape who we are. As we continue investing in neighborhoods through Elevate \u201928, this grand entrance will welcome residents and visitors for generations to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
