A woman died Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle in San Jose, authorities said.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred around 8:09 p.m., when police responded to the intersection of White Road and Mt. McKinley Drive for reports of a vehicle colliding with a pedestrian, according to a news release from the San Jose Police Department.<\/p>\n
Investigators found that an adult man had been driving a 2005 Toyota westbound on Mt. McKinley Drive. The vehicle then hit the adult female pedestrian while making a turn onto southbound White Road. The woman had been crossing the street in the eastbound direction in the crosswalk.<\/p>\n
Authorities transported the woman to a hospital, where she later died of her injuries, authorities added.<\/p>\n
The woman\u2019s identity will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner\u2019s Office pending positive identification and notification of her next of kin.<\/p>\n
The Toyota\u2019s driver stayed at the scene of the collision and was cooperative in the investigation, police said.<\/p>\n
This collision marks San Jose\u2019s 12th traffic death and 12th fatal collision of the year. It is also the fifth pedestrian death.<\/p>\n
