LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Rain is expected to return to Southern California this weekend as two storm systems move into the region.<\/p>\n
“The first system for late Friday into Saturday will have minimal impact as the upper low remains mostly over northern California,” according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n
Rainfall amounts will range from a trace up to around a quarter inch, forecasters said.<\/p>\n
The second system, expected late Saturday into Sunday, will be stronger and could bring heavy showers and possible severe storms, according to the NWS.<\/p>\n
Forecasters said the stronger system could bring widespread rain across the region overnight Saturday into Sunday, with a greater than an 80% chance of precipitation and the possibility of thunderstorms, gusty winds and brief heavy downpours.<\/p>\n
Rainfall totals of one-half to three-quarters of an inch are expected across coastal and valley areas, with inch-plus amounts possible in foothills, coastal slopes and areas impacted by thunderstorms.<\/p>\n
The main front is expected to move through Los Angeles County between early morning and mid-morning Sunday, with lingering showers possible into Sunday night and early Monday before drier conditions return, according to the weather agency.<\/p>\n
Snow levels are expected to fall to around 5,500 feet, with accumulating snow possible above 6,000 feet.<\/p>\n
