Alameda restaurant opening<\/p>\n

03.24.26: A new Mexican restaurant debuted in Alameda on March 28. Le\u00f1a is located at the former Comedy Club on Central Avenue. Grand opening festivities include live music and performances, with an official ribbon-cutting on April 2.\u00a0Le\u00f1a<\/a>, 2431 Central Ave., Alameda<\/p>\n

Berkeley restaurant openings <\/p>\n

Cafe Bolita<\/p>\n

03.03.26: The highly-anticipated cafe from the creator of\u00a0Bolita Masa<\/a>, Emanuel Galvan,\u00a0is now open. Located in the former space of the beloved Standard Fare inside the\u00a0Berkeley Kitchens<\/a>, Bolita Masa had been a tenant inside the commercial space for the past few years. Cinnaholic<\/p>\n

03.24.26: Cinnaholic is back<\/a>.\u00a0Founded by Shannon and Florian Radke\u00a0in Berkeley, the shop on the North Side of Cal campus is now in new hands. The bakery serves not-your-regular cinnamon buns \u2013 all vegan, with an assortment of toppings (although they do also sell plain and vanilla frosted ones). With flavors like caramel apple pie roll, made with caramel, apples, pecans, and pie crumble, plus a BYO (build your own) roll, the possibilities are limitless. Cinnaholic soft opened March 20, and held its grand opening on April 3.\u00a0Cinnaholic<\/a>, 2505 Hearst Ave., Suite D, Berkeley<\/p>\n

03.10.26: A new cafe dedicated to Vietnamese coffee and food has soft opened in Berkeley. On the menu? Espresso drinks using Vietnamese coffee beans roasted in house,\u00a0ca phe sua da\u00a0with optional black sesame, ube, or pandan foam, salted coffee, and matcha. Pastries are provided by SF-based Neighbor Bakehouse. Lunch items include banh mi, noodle bowls, and rice bowls. The name of the cafe is a reference to \u201cgarage,\u201d which the sibling-owners told\u00a0SF Gate<\/a>\u00a0is a nod to their family\u2019s businesses that were based out of their garages. Along with\u00a0Ox 9 and Rice Dynasty<\/a>, this block on Telegraph Avenue near the Berkeley campus is bringing exciting Asian flavors to the masses.\u00a0GA.RA<\/a>, 2424 Telegraph Ave., Berkeley<\/p>\n

Our Family Table<\/p>\n

03.24.26: A new Chinese restaurant has opened in downtown Berkeley. On the menu? With mostly Northern Chinese-focused dishes, Our Family Table has dumplings, baos, beef noodle soup, scallion pancakes, and more offerings. The new restaurant is in the former Las Deliciaas Salvadoran space.\u00a0Our Family Table<\/a>, 2037 Kala Bagai Way, Berkeley\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dublin restaurant openings<\/p>\n

Marufuku <\/p>\n

03.10.26: The popular San Francisco ramen restaurant is opening a new location in Dublin. Known for their Hakata-style tonkotsu ramen with a creamy pork bone broth, the only other East Bay location is in\u00a0Oakland\u2019s Temescal<\/a>\u00a0neighborhood, though they have expanded beyond their Japantown location to other parts of California, New York, and Texas. The grand opening for the new location was March 11.\u00a0Marufuku<\/a>, 4288 Dublin Blvd., #101, Dublin<\/p>\n

Sheng Kee Bakery<\/p>\n

03.10.26: The Bay Area-based Asian pastry known for pineapple buns, egg tarts, savory goods like a flaky curry beef pastry and garlic toast \u2013 as well as mooncakes of all varieties \u2013 opened a new location in Dublin last week. Sheng Kee also has locations in Berkeley, San Leandro, and Richmond, with a total of 13 stores in the Bay.\u00a0Sheng Kee<\/a>, 4288 Dublin Blvd. #107, Dublin<\/p>\n

SoDo Cafe<\/p>\n

Sourdough donuts have arrived in a permanent location<\/a> after three years of pop-ups. The Bay Area\u2019s only sourdough donut company recently soft opened<\/a> in its permanent home at Hammerling Wines in West Berkeley. In addition to donuts, they also serve sandwiches and focaccia\u2019s with toppings. SoDo Cafe<\/a> at Hammerling Wines, 1350 Fifth St., Berkeley\u00a0<\/p>\n

El Cerrito restaurant opening<\/p>\n

Tasty Sichuan<\/p>\n

03.17.26: A new Sichuan spot recently opened in El Cerrito, serving an array of dishes, from handmade dumplings and noodles to Chinese American favorites such as General Tso\u2019s chicken.\u00a0Tasty Sichuan<\/a>, 10675 San Pablo Ave., El Cerrito\u00a0<\/p>\n

Fremont restaurant opening<\/p>\n

Palmetto Superfoods<\/p>\n

03.17.26: A new location of the customized acai bowl spot has opened in Fremont (a location is also opening soon in downtown Berkeley). Palmetto opened the first location in the Richmond district of San Francisco. Palmetto is known for its blended bases, including acai, coconut, spirulina, matcha, mango, or dragonfruit that can be added together in layers in one bowl, and an unlimited number of toppings.\u00a0Palmetto Superfoods<\/a>, 3520 Beacon Ave., Fremont<\/p>\n

Oakland restaurant openings<\/p>\n

03.03.26: Chef Janice Dulce of FOB Kitchen in Oakland\u2019s Temescal\u2019s neighborhood has opened her outpost in West Oakland at Prescott Market\u2019s food hall. Named FOB West, the menu will differ from FOB Kitchen, with more of a focus on affordability and dishes from Guam, where chef\/owner Janice Dulce grew up. Some of the most popular Filipino dishes from FOB Kitchen will also be on the menu, and soft opening offerings have included a chopped salad, pancit and both pork and vegetarian lumpia options.\u00a0FOB West<\/a>, Prescott Market, 1620 18th St., Oakland<\/p>\n

Fungi Foods<\/p>\n

03.31.26: The popular vegan popup focused on mushrooms now has a brick-and-mortar. The shop\u00a0soft opened this past weekend<\/a>\u00a0with a limited menu, serving up loaded mac and cheese bowls and fungi lasagna. They also sell\u00a0fungi jerky<\/a>. The shop uses locally grown \u2018shrooms from their own\u00a0Fungi Farms<\/a>. The grand opening was April 9.\u00a0Fungi Foods<\/a>, 434 25th St., Oakland<\/p>\n

Jolly Cafe<\/p>\n

03.03.26: The cafe that replaced Oakland Chinatown\u2019s Boba Binge is now open. The menu is somewhat similar to Boba Binge\u2019s, including Vietnamese coffee and matcha, Vietnamese spring rolls, and Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches. In addition, they serve some unique drinks, such as ones with\u00a0sweet mung bean<\/a>.\u00a0Jolly Cafe<\/a>, 1004 Webster St., Oakland<\/p>\n

Kilovolt Coffee<\/p>\n

03.17.26: Kilovolt Coffee has soft opened in West Oakland,\u00a0Redditors<\/a>\u00a0reported. The coffee shop first opened on Mandela Parkway in 2014, but\u00a0lost its lease last year<\/a>. According to the\u00a0website<\/a>, the menu includes drip coffee and espresso drinks, plus bagels and sandwiches.\u00a0Kilovolt Coffee<\/a>, 1746 13th St., Oakland<\/p>\n

La Cocinita Nica <\/p>\n

03.17.26: A\u00a0Nicaraguan fritanga<\/a>\u00a0has landed in Oakland\u2019s Melrose district. A fritanga refers to a street food vendor, typically serving friends foods. La Cocinita Nica has already become popular since it opened. The fritanga serves sopas, carne asada, and other dishes in a festive environment. La Cocinita Nica also has a location in Daly City, and is opening a new one in San Jose.\u00a0La Cocinita Nica<\/a>, 5323 Fairfax Ave., Oakland<\/p>\n

Oasis Coffee Garden<\/p>\n

03.31.26: Oasis Coffee opened March 28 in Oakland\u2019s Adam\u2019s Point neighborhood, just across from Lake Merritt. The shop serves fresh-brewed Yemeni coffee, plus bagels and pastries.\u00a0Oasis Coffee<\/a>, 447 Perkins St., Oakland<\/p>\n

Sana\u2019a Cafe<\/p>\n

03.31.26: Sana\u2019a coffee has expanded their Yemeni coffee shop footprint to the outskirts of East Oakland, opening up a cafe on 98th Avenue near the Oakland airport (now called the Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport).\u00a0The grand opening<\/a>\u00a0was April 3. The cafe chain has two other locations in Oakland, and is\u00a0quickly expanding<\/a>.\u00a0Sana\u2019a Cafe<\/a>, 185 98th Ave., Oakland<\/p>\n

Sofia\u2019s House<\/p>\n

03.17.26: Whether you\u2019re craving burgers and fries, a burrito, or a hearty stew, Sophia\u2019s House has it all. The Mexican American restaurant recently opened, replacing Chimmelier, a Korean street food and KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) spot. Sofia\u2019s House is open for brunch, where they serve chilaquiles and omelettes, as well as lunch and dinner.\u00a0Sofia\u2019s House<\/a>, 3905 Broadway Ave., Oakland<\/p>\n

Souk Savanh 2.0<\/p>\n

03.31.26: Originally on International Boulevard, this Lao Thai spot recently reopened in Uptown on Telegraph Avenue, next to Mama T\u2019s. They serve an all day $10 basil rice plate, plus $20 \u201cbig back\u201d plates filled with a heap of garlic noodles and different protein options.\u00a0Souk Savanh 2.0<\/a>, 1707 Telegraph Ave., Oakland<\/p>\n

Studio Estepan<\/p>\n

03.31.26: Studio Estepan opened late March for a trial run with a menu of shokupans (Japanese milk bread loaves), demi baguettes, blue corn conchas, and other sourdough baked goods. It\u2019s the shop from Estevan Silva, who was named a\u00a0Chronicle\u00a0Rising Star chef in 2025 and was a longtime baker at Quince. The storefront operates in the same kitchen as\u00a0Grand Opening Bakery<\/a>\u00a0from pastry chef Melissa Chou, and is located next door to Soba Ichi in West Oakland inside the O2 Artisans Aggregate space. The kitchen is a little hard to find, but worth it for Michelin-level bread.\u00a0Studio Estepan<\/a>, 2311 Magnolia St., Oakland<\/p>\n

Tita Becca\u2019s<\/p>\n

03.31.26: A Filipino spot has opened at 15th and Franklin in downtown Oakland. Named Tita Becca\u2019s (\u201ctita\u201d means aunt or aunty), the family-run shop serves Filipino dishes like pancit, siningang, and other traditional dishes. They maintain a low profile on the socials, but Redditors and others report back that it\u2019s goooood.\u00a0Tita Becca\u2019s<\/a>, 400 15th St., Oakland<\/p>\n

Zoco Fusion<\/p>\n

03.17.26: Zoco Fusion recently opened, bringing halal, Mexican and Mediterranean dishes like tacos and shawarma wraps.\u00a0Zoco Fusion<\/a>, 134 14th St., Oakland<\/p>\n

Richmond restaurant openings<\/p>\n

Butter\u2019s Burgers<\/p>\n

03.24.26: The Napa-based smash burger joint \u2014 run by French Laundry alum Christopher Ruiz \u2014 is opening a second location at\u00a0Armistice Brewing Company<\/a>\u00a0beer garden in Richmond. The truck soft opened March 23 for lunch service, and held a grand opening April 3. Fans of the Napa-based spot that serves quarterpounder and double quarterpounder smashburgers, a Japanese-style fried chicken sandwich, pastrami, Impossible burgers, and loaded fries, can rejoice at the new option in Richmond. Butter\u2019s Burgers also operates out of Armistice in Napa.\u00a0Butter\u2019s Burgers<\/a>, 845 Marina Bay Parkway, Suite 1, Richmond\u00a0<\/p>\n

San Leandro restaurant opening<\/p>\n

Philz Coffee<\/p>\n

03.17.26: Philz Coffee is opened a new location in San Leandro on March 18. The Oakland-based coffee roastery, which opened its first shop in the Mission district in SF, serves a popular mint mojito drink with fresh smashed mint leaves, and has also introduced new flavors like pistachio spice coffee. The San Leandro store commissioned artist Nigel Sussman to paint interior murals.\u00a0Philz Coffee<\/a>, 1194 E. 14th St., San Leandro\u00a0<\/p>\n

San Pablo restaurant opening<\/p>\n

Egg Bred <\/p>\n

03.31.26: San Pablo\u2019s newest breakfast spot recently opened,\u00a0serving<\/a>\u00a0not only breakfast sandos, but eggs benedicts, burritos, fried chicken sandwiches, and poutine.\u00a0Egg Bred<\/a>, 102 San Pablo Towne Center, San Pablo\u00a0<\/p>\n

San Ramon restaurant opening<\/p>\n

03.31.26: The burger spot that started in the Castro in San Francisco in 2010 is debuted a new branch in San Ramon March 31. The new restaurant is decked out in the same retro decor as the original and features a similar menu with burgers made from grass-fed Brandt Beef, free-range chicken sandwiches, veggie burgers, fries, breakfast sandwiches, milkshakes and more. Super Duper Burgers now has 22 locations in the Bay Area.\u00a0Super Duper Burgers<\/a>, 146 Sunset Dr., San Ramon<\/p>\n

Walnut Creek restaurant openings<\/p>\n

North Italia<\/p>\n

03.24.26: The Northern Italian restaurant opened March 25. The restaurant chain originates from Arizona, and is about to open its 50th location in the U.S.\u00a0Owned by The Cheesecake Factory Company<\/a>, the menu includes pastas, pizzas, and specialty dishes such as seared scallops, braised short rib marsala, and a Sunday night lasagna\u00a0\u00a0North Italia<\/a>, 1179 Locust St., Walnut Creek<\/p>\n

Sala Mediterranean Grill<\/p>\n

03.31.26: There\u2019s a lot opening up in downtown Walnut Creek, including one of the newest additions, Sala Mediterranean Grill. The restaurant serves\u00a0build-your-own<\/a>\u00a0grain bowls and pita sandwiches, plus desserts like baklava.\u00a0Sala Grill<\/a>, 1348 Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek<\/p>\n
