BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) \u2014 The proposed agreement between the Kern County District Attorney\u2019s Office and the Bakersfield Recovery Services is back on the agenda for the supervisors\u2019 consideration during their Tuesday Board meeting.<\/p>\n
DA Cynthia Zimmer chose Bakersfield Recovery Services to fill the role previously held by The Open Door Network in providing services to Kern County victims of crime at the Family Justice Center.<\/p>\n
Criticism made over connections between Kern County DA and proposed provider at Family Justice Center <\/a><\/p>\n The DA previously sent a letter to ODN expressing its desire to find a new service provider, leading to public clashes<\/a> between the DA and ODN\u2019s Chief Executive Officer Lauren Skidmore.<\/p>\n Bakersfield Recovery Services\u2019 leadership is also in charge of Psychiatric Wellness Center, a center that former county supervisor Zack Scrivner \u2014 Zimmer\u2019s nephew \u2014 attends for his diversion program<\/a>.<\/p>\n During the previous Board meeting held March 24, District 2 and 3 supervisors Chris Parlier and Jeff Flores abstained from voting<\/a> due to receiving over $500 in campaign contributions from the involved parties. District 4 Supervisor David Couch was absent due to being out of the country.<\/p>\n The matter was tabled and continued to its next meeting due to the Board lacking a quorum to vote with only two members left.<\/p>\n The Board is set to revisit this agreement during its meeting at 9 a.m. April 14 at 1115 Truxtun Ave., according to the agenda.<\/p>\n Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
