A 35-year-old dental assistant pleaded guilty on Thursday, April 9 and was immediately sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for sexually assaulting three young female patients.<\/p>\n
Tommy Medina waived about 2 1\/2 years of custody credits as part of a plea deal offer from Orange County Superior Court Judge Larry Yellin, which drew an objection from prosecutors. Medina was also ordered to register as a sex offender.<\/p>\n
Medina worked at OC Kids Dental, 630 S. Main St., when he sexually assaulted two of the girls in 2013 and 2012, according to court records. A third victim came forward after the preliminary hearing on the first case.<\/p>\n
One of the girls said she was 9 when she had a dental procedure at the office and was taken into a private room where Medina put her on a bed and put a leather cloth over her eyes before assaulting her, according to police testimony at his preliminary hearing.<\/p>\n
