Golden Harvest Festival & Parade along Sacramento’s Capitol Mall set to celebrate unity

SACRAMENTO’S MOST COLORFUL AND LIVELY CELEBRATIONS IS HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND, AND YOU CAN TAKE PART IN THE FOURTH ANNUAL GOLDEN HARVEST PARADE AND FESTIVAL. AND JOINING US THIS MORNING, ARE JIM CHUNG AND CHANG. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JOINING US. IT IS GREAT BEING HERE. HERE’S THE FOUNDER, WEI ZHENG OF THE GOLDEN HARVEST PARADE. AND OF COURSE, WE’RE HIGHLIGHTING CHILDREN WITH OUR CHILDREN’S PROGRAM COMING UP. ADORABLE AREN’T THEY? AND THIS IS JOSIE JOSIE, AN ME, AN MIA. WELL, YOU GUYS LOOK GREAT. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JOINING US THIS MORNING. ALL RIGHT, SO LET’S START HERE. JUST TELL US A LITTLE BIT OF BACKGROUND WHAT THE HARVEST FESTIVAL MEANS. ALL RIGHT. WELL, WHO BETTER TO PRESENT IT THAN THE FOUNDER? OKAY. THE GOLDEN HARVEST PARADE FESTIVAL IS HOSTED BY A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION, GOLDEN HARVEST PARADE. WE JUST WANT TO GET ALL THE PEOPLE IN SACRAMENTO TO JOIN THIS MULTI MULTICULTURAL EVENT. WE WILL PRESENT A UNITY, HARMONY AND PEACE. AND THERE’S A LOT ON TAP ISN’T THERE? YEAH, THERE’S A LOT OF THINGS GOING ON. WE HAVE NEW CHILDREN’S PROGRAM WE’RE IMPLEMENTING AT 10:00. WE ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO GET THERE AROUND 930 OR SO, BUT AT 10:00 ON NINTH AND N, WE’RE GOING TO BE STARTING THE PARADE PORTION WITH THE CITYWIDE KARAOKE SINGERS. THAT’S GOING TO GO ON FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. AT 11:00. THE PARADE WILL BE THERE WITH A LOT OF COMMUNITIES, DIFFERENT ETHNIC GROUPS, A LOT OF TALENT THAT WILL BE THERE. IT’S GOING TO BE A LOT OF FUN SURPRISES TO FOLLOWED, AND THE VENDORS WILL ALSO BE AVAILABLE AT TEN STARTING AT 10 A.M. SO IT’S GOING TO BE LIVELY AND THE FESTIVAL IS GOING TO HAVE A WHOLE MYRIAD OF DIFFERENT CULTURES REPRESENTED THROUGH THE ARTS, DANCING AND A LOT OF VENDORS AS WELL. YEAH. SO I MEAN, EVERYTHING STARTS AT TEN. IT GOES UNTIL 430. WHAT DID YOU FOLKS BRING HERE TODAY? JUST TO KIND OF PUT A PUT A LITTLE FLAVOR ON WHAT WE MIGHT SEE OUT THERE. IT’S A TOOL, A CHILDREN’S GAME. ONE IS A CLAY ART. YOU CAN SEE THERE’S ALL HANDMADE. OH, REALLY? YES. OKAY, SO SOME OF THAT GOING TO BE AVAILABLE OUT THERE. FOR PURCHASE OR TO TAKE PART. NO NO NO NO. TEACHING KIDS HOW TO MAKE IT. VERY NICE. YES. ANOTHER PROGRAM IS SUPPORTED BY THE CALIFORNIA STATE RAILROAD MUSEUM. THAT’S A TELEGRAPH THAT TELLS PEOPLE HOW THE COMMUNITY COMMUNICATE AT THAT TIME. AND THAT’S REALLY WHAT THIS IS ALL ABOUT, RIGHT? IT’S ABOUT BRINGING THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER. WHY IS THAT SO IMPORTANT DURING THIS FESTIVAL? WELL, YOU KNOW, I THINK ESPECIALLY IN TIMES LIKE THIS, I THINK THE WORLD COULD STAND TO BRING TOGETHER SOME THINGS. WHAT BETTER WAY THAN REALLY TO SHARE FOOD, ARTS, CULTURE, COMMUNITY TO BRING IT ALL BACK? AND THAT WAS REALLY THE ORIGINAL VISION OF DANIEL DANIEL CHANG, ALSO ONE OF THE FOUNDERS. AND WAY WHEN THEY BROUGHT US ALL TOGETHER. THIS IS THE FOURTH YEAR. AND, YOU KNOW, FIRST YEAR YOU LEARN A LOT. YEAH, I THINK WE’RE GETTING BETTER, BUT WE ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO COME JOIN US, WHETHER THEY REGISTER TO BE A PART OF THE PARADE. BUT DEFINITELY COME OUT. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST, I THINK, INSTRUMENTAL TIMES TO BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER. NEAR THE END OF THE YEAR, RIGHT BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS, RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE STATE CAPITOL. WE HAVE A LOT OF MARTIAL ARTS GROUPS AND JUST A LOT OF DIFFERENT CULTURES AND GENERATIONS REPRESENTED. VERY NICE. AND AGAIN, THE BEST PART IS THE PRICE. IT’S FREE. SO YOU JUST GOT TO SHOW UP. ALL RIGHT. WELL THANK YOU ALL FOR JOINING US THIS MO
