A suspected intoxicated motorist is accused of killing an elderly Oakland County woman in a traffic clash Thursday night that closed a well-traveled road in Roseville for several hours.<\/p>\n
According to Roseville police, officers were called about 9:30 p.m. to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Groesbeck Highway (M-97), south of Martin Road.<\/p>\n
Police found three people were injured and began administering aid.<\/p>\n
A preliminary investigation shows a 26-year-old man from Roseville was traveling south on Groesbeck \u201cat a high rate of\u201d speed when his vehicle struck another vehicle driven by an 85-year-old woman, said Police Chief Mitch Berlin.<\/p>\n
The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police have not released her name.<\/p>\n
The driver and his female passenger were both injured in the collision, officers said. They were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.<\/p>\n
According to police, the female is listed in serious condition, while the driver sustained minor injuries. He was released to police and is being held at the Roseville Police Department.<\/p>\n
Alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash, according to investigators.<\/p>\n
Police said the investigation remains ongoing. Groesbeck Highway was still closed as of after midnight Friday.<\/p>\n
