{"id":261439,"date":"2026-04-10T18:37:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-10T18:37:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/261439\/"},"modified":"2026-04-10T18:37:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T18:37:10","slug":"kings-seafood-company-announces-the-purchase-of-oranges-o-sea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/261439\/","title":{"rendered":"King&#8217;s Seafood Company announces the purchase of Orange&#8217;s O Sea"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Old Towne Orange\u2019s sustainable seafood restaurant O Sea, announced this week that April 30 would be its last day of service.<\/p>\n<p>As the restaurant nears its five year anniversary, O Sea founder and general manager Mike Flynn shared via the O Sea Instagram account that the O Sea brand was purchased by King\u2019s Fish Company, in an asset purchase and strategic integration deal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFollowing the completion of the transaction, both parties have agreed that O Sea will close,\u201d Flynn said in his post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKing\u2019s Seafood Company has acquired the O SEA brand and related intellectual property and will integrate O SEA Founder Mike Flynn and key members of his leadership team into King\u2019s Seafood Company in newly-created senior roles,\u201d officials with the company, which operates King\u2019s Fish House in Orange and Water Grill in Costa Mesa, announced in a news release. \u201cThe move signals a significant investment by King\u2019s Seafood Company in continued culinary innovation and brand development across its portfolio.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>            <img class=\"image\" alt=\"Mexican white shrimp and Norwegian Salmon on the grill at O Sea restaurant in Old Town Orange.\"   width=\"1200\" height=\"799\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1775846230_401_.jpeg\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>         <\/p>\n<p>Mexican white shrimp and Norwegian Salmon on the grill at O Sea restaurant in Old Town Orange.<\/p>\n<p>(Don Leach\/Daily PIlot)<\/p>\n<p>O Sea opened in Orange in 2021, advocating for the ocean with the motto, \u201cseafood for thought\u201d and serving dishes like salmon ceviche, wild Alaskan cod fish and chips and grilled fish tacos. As an \u201cOcean Friendly Restaurant\u201d with the Surfrider Foundation, O Sea was recognized as a restaurant committed to making sustainable choices for the ocean, like refraining from using single-use plastics.<\/p>\n<p>Following an oil spill from an underwater pipeline off Orange County\u2019s coastline in 2021, O Sea <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/socal\/daily-pilot\/entertainment\/story\/2021-10-14\/old-town-orange-seafood-restaurant-donates-part-of-menu-proceeds-to-oil-spill-cleanup\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">donated 10% of the proceeds <\/a>from seafood specials to Surfrider Foundation\u2019s efforts to mitigate the spill\u2019s impact on birds, fish and other wildlife.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t Flynn\u2019s first experience working with King\u2019s; he served as assistant general manager of Water Grill, South Coast Plaza and general manager of Water Grill, Los Angeles before opening O Sea.<\/p>\n<p>            <img class=\"image\" alt=\"Owner Mike Flynn at O Sea restaurant in Old Town Orange. The last day of service will be April 30.<\/p>\n<p>(Don Leach \/ Staff Photographer)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKing\u2019s has been a home of sorts for me for nearly two decades \u2014 some of you will remember that I took my first restaurant job with King\u2019s when I was still in college,\u201d Flynn wrote in his statement. \u201cSelling the O Sea brand to King\u2019s is a very full circle moment for me and going back to work with the King family feels like going home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>King\u2019s Seafood Company founder, Sam King, expressed a similar sentiment in a news release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a proud and full-circle moment,\u201d King said. \u201cMike began his career with us early on, and it\u2019s incredibly meaningful to welcome him back in a leadership role. His creativity, perspective, and commitment to quality are in complete alignment with our company\u2019s values and will be invaluable as we continue to evolve our brands and invest in the future of our organization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>King\u2019s Seafood Company was founded in 1984 by Sam King and the late Jeff King. In addition to King\u2019s Fish House and Water Grill, the restaurant group\u2019s portfolio includes 555 East Steakhouse, Lou &amp; Mickey\u2019s, Meat on Ocean and Pier Burger. The company also operates King\u2019s Seafood Distribution, which supplies seafood to all its restaurants.<\/p>\n<p>Flynn invited diners to come out for a final meal at O Sea before the restaurant closes at the end of the month, extending gratitude to the Orange County community for its continued support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCome join us for lunch, happy hour or dinner through April 30th!
