LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton Titans women’s water polo season came to an end on Friday afternoon in a 18-5 loss against the hosts No. 2 Long Beach State in the Big West Championship Quarterfinals.<\/p>\n
The Titans finished their fourth campaign with their first winning record in program history with a 17-15 overall record.\u00a0\u00a0Destiny Hernandez<\/a> led the Titans by scoring a hat trick in her final collegiate game. \u00a0Hernandez also finishes out her three year career as a Titan with the program record of 132 goals and 183 points.\u00a0Mia Solorzano<\/a> and Sofia Moschetti<\/a> also scored one goal a piece. \u00a0Renske Boxsem<\/a> made 8 saves in the cage.\u00a0 \u00a0Boxsem finished the season with 201 saves.<\/p>\n It was almost all Long Beach State through the first half of the game. \u00a0The Beach jumped to a 4-0 lead after the first quarter. \u00a0They got up to a 9-0 lead in the second quarter before Solorzano broke the shutout with a goal with 3:46 left in the second quarter. \u00a0The Beach added four more goals before the half ended and led 13-1 after two periods.<\/p>\n The Titans finished out the second half strong as it was a 5-4 difference in the second half. \u00a0The Beach scored once in the third before Sofia Moschetti<\/a> and Destiny Hernandez<\/a> scored in the third to make it a 14-3 game.<\/p>\n Destiny Hernandez<\/a> picked up the final two goals for the Titans in the fourth quarter to complete the hat trick as the Titans were outscored 4-2 in the final frame.<\/p>\n For the Titans, this was the final game for eight seniors as the team will graduate Destiny Hernandez<\/a>, Gabrielle Zaretskiy<\/a>, Delaney Latham<\/a>, Neida Torres<\/a>, Kendal Santos<\/a>, Mikka Von Scherr<\/a>, Isabella Schulze<\/a>, and Stephanie Hidalgo<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u00a0SUPPORT THE TITANS!
