A Honduran national was sentenced Thursday to eight years in federal prison for trafficking fentanyl and methamphetamine, federal prosecutors said.<\/p>\n
Cristian Diaz-Villatoro, 33, received the sentence from U.S. District Judge Charles R. Breyer after pleading guilty to multiple drug distribution charges, including possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine, according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors said Diaz-Villatoro sold methamphetamine to an undercover detective several times in mid-2022 and regularly traveled from Oakland to San Francisco’s Tenderloin district.<\/p>\n
Authorities arrested him in September 2022 and found more than 1,000 grams of fentanyl and over 200 grams of methamphetamine in his car, along with heroin, cocaine, and a digital scale, according to court documents.<\/p>\n
After being released on bond, Diaz-Villatoro fled and remained a fugitive for about 10 months, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n
He was arrested again in Oregon in May 2024 with additional fentanyl and evidence of ongoing drug sales, federal officials said.<\/p>\n
In addition to his prison term, Diaz-Villatoro was sentenced to five years of supervised release.<\/p>\n
