<\/p>\n ROCHESTER, Mich. \u2014\u00a0The Oakland Golden Grizzlies\u00a0(9-20, 5-6 HL) edged out the Milwaukee Panthers (7-24, 4-7 HL) with a 6\u20135 victory to even the weekend series on Saturday at Oakland Baseball Field. The home team capitalized on a strong start, scoring three runs in the first inning, and later added crucial insurance runs in the fifth and seventh innings. Milwaukee’s four-run rally in the fifth inning closed the gap, but Oakland’s bullpen held firm, allowing no runs over the final four innings to secure the win.<\/p>\n Junior Aidan Orr<\/a> scored two runs while drawing two walks in the ballgame as redshirt-junior Sam Griffith<\/a> finished with three RBIs to add to the Golden Grizzlies’ scoreboard. Sophomore Andrew Landis<\/a> pitched 1.2 innings of hitless relief\u00a0while drawing up two strikeouts and junior\u00a0Blake Sehlke<\/a> recorded his first\u00a0save of the season, completing two innings with no hits allowed and a strikeout to close out the game.<\/p>\n Oakland took an early lead in the first inning as junior Ben Clark<\/a> walked and advanced to third on Orr’s single. Clark later scored when redshirt-sophomore Tony Konopiots<\/a> reached on a fielding error. Sophomore Sam Patton’s<\/a> single up the middle drove in Orr, and a sacrifice bunt from Griffith brought in Konopiots to take the Golden Grizzlies ahead by three runs.<\/p>\n In the second frame, grad senior Carter Hain<\/a> singled and scored on fifth-year Kyle Revere’s<\/a> RBI single, pushing Oakland’s lead.<\/p>\n The visitors got on the board in the fourth inning with an RBI single, making it 4\u20131. The fifth inning saw Milwaukee tie the game with four runs, highlighted by an RBI single and a\u00a0two-RBI single into left field. Oakland responded with a run of its own as Konopiots scored on Griffith’s RBI groundout, tying the game at five apiece\u00a0through five innings.<\/p>\n Oakland regained the lead in the seventh inning when Orr scored on Griffith’s RBI single, putting them ahead with the final score of\u00a06\u20135 through seven innings.<\/p>\n It was a good day for the Oakland bullpen, as Senior left-hander Tanner Ware<\/a> started on the mound for the Golden Grizzlies, pitching 4.1 innings while allowing seven hits and three earned runs, with no walks and two strikeouts.\u00a0Landis entered in relief, delivering 1.2 innings of scoreless ball, as junior Ryan Donley<\/a> contributed one inning of work, yielding one hit but no runs for the win.\u00a0Sehlke closed the game with a solid two innings, allowing no hits or walks, and secured the save with a strikeout.<\/p>\n The Golden Grizzlies and Panthers are back for the series finale tomorrow, April 12 at the OU Baseball Field.
