\nThe Golden Bears (17-16, 3-11) have now won three straight games with double-digit hits and at least an eight-run deficit. They have posted 16 hits in both games of this series and their 14 runs today matches a program high in an ACC game.

\nThe starting rotation was once again very effective as Gavin Eddy<\/a> (4-2) followed Oliver de la Torre’s<\/a> complete-game Friday win with a gem of his own. The sophomore picked up his team-leading fourth win of the season going five full innings and allowing just three earned runs. Eddy scattered six hits and a pair of walks while punching out six Panther batters.

\nRuns came early and often for the red-hot Cal offense which led off the game with a three-spot in the top of the first thanks to yet another long ball by Lawson Olmstead<\/a>. After a Daniel Murillo<\/a> sac fly gave the Bears a 1-0 lead, the freshman designated hitter stepped into the box and took an outside pitch over the wall for his second opposite-field home run in as many games. Olmstead would end the game 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored and now has seven RBI in the series.

\nCal went up 4-0 in the top of the third thanks to heads up baserunning by Jacob French<\/a> who was once again incredible at the plate going 3-for-6 with three runs and three RBI. He is now 6-for-9 with five runs and five RBI in the series and has posted three straight multi-hit efforts since returning from injury on Monday.

\nPitt (22-11, 6-8) punched back with its first run of the game in the bottom half to cut the lead to 4-1, but Cal broke the wide open the next time it came up to bat.

\nAfter scoring 10 runs in the fourth inning yesterday, the Bears plated six more in the fourth today to take a commanding 10-1 lead. The six-run inning featured just one hit, but it was a massive one, with French crushing a three-run homer deep over the right field wall.

\nIt wasn’t until the sixth inning of game two that the Bears had to go to their bullpen for the first time. Cal called upon two of its top arms to keep the team ahead and both were effective Quinn Larson<\/a> allowing two earned in 1.1 innings and Cole Clark<\/a> allowing one earned in 1.2 innings to go with three strikeouts that came in huge spots including two with the bases loaded.

\nCal added three more runs in the seventh and another in the eighth to keep pace with a Pitt offense that started gaining momentum in the later innings. Freshman Joshua Hanson<\/a> plated a run in each inning collecting an RBI double in the seventh and an RBI single in the eighth to collect a career-high three hits in the game to go with two runs scored. He has now collected six hits and four runs over the last three games

\nFreshman Trent Roach<\/a> came on in the ninth and after allowing a lead-off single got a fly out and groundball double play to face the minimum and secure the win and the series for the Golden Bears.

\nThe Bears will go for the sweep in game three tomorrow back at Charles L. Cost Field. First pitch is set for 10 a.m. PT on ACCNX.
