GOOD MORNING TO YOU. I’M LETICIA ORDAZ. TODAY IS APRIL 12TH. TODAY IS ALSO A KCRA 3 WEATHER IMPACT DAY ONCE AGAIN. AND YOU CAN SEE HERE JUST HOW SEVERE THE WEATHER WAS YESTERDAY. A STRONG STORMS PRODUCED ACROSS THE REGION AND KCRA 3. ERIC SENT US THIS VIDEO OF HAIL COMING DOWN HARD IN FOLSOM AND IN AUBURN. TREES TOPPLED INTO POOLS AS THUNDERSTORMS CARRIED THROUGHOUT THE DAY. KELLY CURRAN IS HERE. TRACKING CONDITIONS FOR THIS SUNDAY. WILL IT BE AS BAD AS YESTERDAY? WE DON’T EXPECT IT TO BE QUITE AS DRAMATIC, BUT THERE ARE STILL A POSSIBILITY FOR THUNDERSTORMS. WE’RE ALSO DEALING WITH THAT SIERRA SNOW. SO FOR THE VALLEY IN THE FOOTHILLS, IT’S RAIN. COULD SEE SOME LIGHTNING, SOME SMALL HAIL, SOME GUSTY WINDS. TODAY FOR THE SIERRA IT IS SNOW AND THAT. SO SNOW LEVELS DROP DOWN BELOW 4000FT DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. EVEN POLLOCK PINES PICKING UP SNOW. BUT A DRIER WORKWEEK IS AHEAD WITH WARMER TEMPERATURES. LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT THE CURRENT RADAR SITUATION. YOU DO SEE A LOT OF SCATTERED SHOWER ACTIVITY HERE. THE SHOWERS YESTERDAY THEY WERE GOING SOUTH TO NORTH. TODAY THE SHOWERS ARE MOVING MORE IN A NORTHEASTERLY DIRECTION. MOST OF WHAT WE’RE SEEING IN THE VALLEY IS SCATTERED LIGHT TO MODERATE SHOWERS, MORE MODERATE ACTIVITY AS YOU GET UP INTO THE AIR, INTO THE FOOTHILLS. AND THEN THAT SWITCHES OVER TO SNOW IN SACRAMENTO. THE DOWNTOWN AREA RIGHT NOW IS DRY, BUT WE ARE SEEING SOME SHOWERS NEAR ROSEVILLE AND GOLD RIVER. AUBURN. CAMERON PARK, PLACERVILLE POLLOCK PINES. LIKE I SAID, YOU HAD SOME SNOW DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. YOU’RE WAKING UP TO THAT TRUCKEE DONNER SEEING SNOW. WE’RE ALSO SEEING THAT SNOW COMING DOWN AROUND CISCO GROVE FOR TEMPERATURES SACRAMENTO STOCKTON 50 DEGREES. YOU’RE NOT GOING TO WARM UP MUCH FROM THIS TODAY. WE’RE IN THE MID TO UPPER 40S IN THE FOOTHILLS AND UPPER 20S IN THE SIERRA. HIGH TEMPERATURES TODAY, UPPER 50S. THAT’S IT FOR THE VALLEY. SOME LOW 60S AS WELL. LOW 50S FOR THE FOOTHILLS. AGAIN, SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSHOWERS THERE AS WELL. SNOW GENERALLY ABOVE 4000FT DURING THE DAYLIGHT HOURS HERE IN THE SIERRA. AND YES, WE HAVE CHAIN CONTROLS ON 88 COOK STATION TO ITS JUNCTION 50 FROM FRED’S PLACE TO MEYERS AND ON 80. SPEAKING OF I-80, LET’S HEAD OUT TO ERIN HEFT IN LIVE TRACKER THREE. ERIN. WHAT ARE YOU SEEING AND WHERE ARE YOU RIGHT NOW? WE’RE IN THE CONTROL AREA AT ALTA AND THEY’RE WAITING FOR US. HELLO, HELLO. OH, HE WANTS TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW. OH, GOODNESS. WE’RE IN THE MIDDLE OF A LIVE REPORT. NICE TO SEE YOU. WE WILL. NICE TO SEE YOU. WE WILL. THE CHANGES ARE ALWAYS THE NICEST PEOPLE. SO WITH THAT SAID, PLEASE BE SAFE WHEN YOU’RE DRIVING THROUGH ZONES LIKE THIS BECAUSE THEY ARE OUT HERE DOING THEIR JOB IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY, WHENEVER THERE IS BAD CONDITIONS, THEY ARE HERE. AND SPEAKING OF THAT, CHAIN CONTROLS IN EFFECT ARE TWO. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? WELL, YOU NEED CHAINS ON YOUR TIRES UNLESS YOU HAVE SNOW TIRES ON ALL FOUR OF THOSE WHEELS AND DRIVE THROUGH SAFELY WITH CHP, AS WELL AS CALTRANS. YEP. OKAY, SO LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT THOSE ROADWAYS. IT’S BECAUSE THERE’S A LOT OF WATER UP ON THE ROADWAY. AGAIN, WE’RE IN ALTA ALTA AT A LOWER ELEVATION. IT’S STILL EXIT. 146. NOT CRAZY, BUT YOU CAN SEE A LITTLE BIT OF SNOW ON THE GROUND THERE. AND I MEAN TECHNICALLY WE ARE IN THE FURTHEST LEFT LANE, THE FAST LANE TECHNICALLY AND TAKING IT SLOW THIS MORNING. SO LIKE KELLY SAID. CHAIN CONTROLS ON 50. THAT’S KYBURZ IF YOU’RE HEADING UP INTO THE SIERRA AND DOWN IN ALTA, IF YOU’RE ON THE 80 AND AS WELL AS 88 HAS A CHAIN CONTROLS. SO JUST TAKE IT SLOW, BE RESPONSIBLE. YOU’RE SEEING A LOT OF SNOW OUT THERE ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTING IN ALTA. AND IT’S APPARENTLY GETS WORSE AS YOU GET INTO THE SIERRA EVEN DEEPER. SO WE’RE GOING TO GO CHECK THAT OUT FOR YOU, GIVE YOU A LIVE LOOK. BACK TO YOU, LETICIA ERIN BE SAFE OUT THERE. WE’LL CHECK BACK IN WITH YOU. AND RIGHT NOW YOU’RE TAKING A LOOK AT AN OUTAGE MAP IN SACRAMENTO COUNTY. YOU CAN SEE MULTIPLE AREAS STILL DEALING WITH OUTAGES THIS MORNING. WE’LL GET TO THAT MAP LATER ON. OVER 1000 CUSTOMERS REMAIN IN THE DARK. AND THIS COMES AS STRONG WINDS AND HEAVY RAIN SLAMMED THE SACRAMENTO REGION YESTERDAY, LEAVING AT LEAST ONE POINT NEARLY 30,000 CUSTOMERS WITH SMUD WITHOUT POWER. THE STORM IS ALSO CAUSING DAMAGE. A LARGE TREE CRASHED INTO A FAMILY’S BACKYARD POOL, AND NEIGHBORS SAY IT’S ONE OF THE WILDEST STORMS THEY’VE SEEN IN A WHILE. THIS IS PROBABLY THE CRAZIEST STORM I’VE EVER SEEN, AND I’VE LIVED HERE MY ENTIRE LIFE, SO THIS IS LIKE THE CRAZIEST STORM EVER, FOR SURE. THE VISIBILITY WAS HORRIBLE. THE OTHER DRIVERS WERE CRAZY. I FELT LIKE EVERYBODY WAS GOING TEN TIMES FASTER THAN ME. I WAS SCARED OUT THERE.

Sacramento River Cats doubleheader canceled after storms

The team was set to play the Las Vegas Aviators in back-to-back games this weekend.

   Updated: 1:57 PM PDT Apr 12, 2026

  Editorial Standards ⓘ

The Sacramento River Cats were slated to play the Las Vegas Aviators both Saturday and Sunday this weekend.
