The Del Mar City Council approved a three-year agreement April 7 with BrightView Landscape Services for citywide landscaping services at a cost of $209,000 per year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe City of Del Mar is committed to maintaining its urban landscaping, which has historically been achieved by hiring an outside contractor to provide landscape maintenance services,\u201d according to a council agenda report. \u201cThe scope of work generally includes scheduled maintenance of public turf, shrubs, and walkways, in addition to providing weed control throughout the City\u2019s parks, medians, street ends, and other public areas. The work also includes supplemental, as-needed landscape maintenance and trimming services.\u201d<\/p>\n
The contract was approved as part of the council\u2019s consent calendar, in which multiple items are approved with a single vote. The city received two bids after issuing a request for proposals in February. BrightView\u2019s proposed annual amount of $209,000 came in about $10,000 lower than the other bid from Mariposa Landscapes.<\/p>\n
\u201cBrightView is a nationwide company with a local office based in San Diego and a dedicated team of workers in the area,\u201d according to the agenda report. \u201cBrightView possesses the staffing and operational capacity to provide consistent service and meet the City\u2019s landscape maintenance needs.\u201d<\/p>\n
