LONG BEACH, Calif. \u2013 Cal State Fullerton defeated Long Beach State 6-2 in game three Sunday afternoon at Blair Field to secure the series victory. With the win the Titans improve to 17-17 on the year and 11-7 in Big West play.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Dylan Smith<\/a> had his best start as a Titan, tossing eight shutout innings while giving up just four hits, walking one batter and striking out four. Smith earned the win to improve to 2-3 on the year.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Titans struck first for the third time in three games this weekend, scoring two runs in the top of the second to take an early lead.\u00a0<\/p>\n Ty Thomas<\/a> led-off the inning with a double followed by an Andrew Kirchner<\/a> walk. With no outs and runners on first and second, Niko Lombardi<\/a> singled to left field to bring home Thomas and give Fullerton a 1-0 lead. Kirchner went 1-for-1 with two runs and a career-high four walks.\u00a0<\/p>\n With two outs and a runner at first, Thomas hit a double off the wall in left field to score Paul Contreras<\/a> and extend the lead to 4-0.
