Get off the sidewalk,\u201d which encourages people to join the fight for farmworkers\u2019 rights, economic justice and social equality.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u201cIt\u2019s more than an image,\u201d Vargas said. \u201cIt\u2019s really a statement of resilience, history and community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">The mural was unveiled just days after Huerta\u2019s 96th birthday on April 10.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u201cDolores Huerta\u2019s leadership helped change the course of labor rights in this country. Its unveiling also comes at a time when recent allegations made by Huerta about Cesar Chavez have sparked a re-evaluation of how historical figures are remembered.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">The \u201cWe Are Human\u201d series also includes four additional murals located in Los Angeles. The first mural in the series, \u201cSongs My Father Taught Me,\u201d depicts a handcuffed mariachi alongside a child, reflecting the impact of immigration raids across Los Angeles and the United States. The second, \u201cI Am Enough,\u201d encourages parents to uplift their children by sharing their stories. \u201cLo Tengo En La Corona\u201d focuses on reclaiming indigenous identity and challenging stereotypes often used to profile immigrant communities. \u201cStrength in UNITY\u201d features a girl having her hair braided.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u201cIndigenous braids\u2019 meaning goes far beyond simple aesthetics,\u201d Vargas said on his social media. \u201cIt is an unbreakable link to history, ethnic diversity and the rich tradition of indigenous culture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">Within a span of several weeks, Vargas completed all five murals, hosting community unveilings that invited people to gather, reflect and engage with the messages behind each piece.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">Vargas is a fifth-generation Angeleno from Boyle Heights, known for his large-scale murals painted entirely freehand, without the use of grids or projections.
