SPRING, Texas \u2013 The FBI<\/a> raided the Texas home of a 20-year-old suspect who is accused of throwing a Molotov cocktail at OpenAI CEO Sam Altman\u2019s house in San Francisco last week, Fox News has learned.<\/p>\n

Fox News was exclusively on the ground as agents gathered evidence while executing a search warrant in Spring, Texas, on Monday morning.<\/p>\n

The suspect, identified as Daniel Moreno-Gama, is accused of traveling from Texas to San Francisco<\/a> to try and kill the OpenAI CEO.<\/p>\n

Sources close to the investigation tell Fox News that Moreno-Gama was driven by his anti-AI views and was carrying a manifesto when he was arrested in San Francisco. The document, described as a “three-part series,” includes a list of other AI executives and investors along with their names and addresses, sources said.<\/p>\n

San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins also warned about increasingly heated rhetoric surrounding artificial intelligence, saying the case should serve as a reminder to “turn down the temperature” in public discourse and avoid language that could incite violence.<\/p>\n

According to San Francisco police, Moreno-Gama threw a Molotov cocktail at Altman\u2019s house early Friday morning, setting the front gate on fire. No one was hurt.<\/p>\n

Police say he then went to OpenAI headquarters<\/a>, where he was captured on surveillance video throwing a chair at the glass doors. Security told police he said he planned to burn the building down and kill anyone inside.<\/p>\n

Moreno-Gama was arrested outside the building by San Francisco police<\/a> and has remained in custody.\u00a0Investigators say he was carrying a jug of kerosene and a lighter.<\/p>\n

The Justice Department filed<\/a> federal charges Monday afternoon for attempted damage and destruction of property by means of explosives and possession of an unregistered firearm.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Moreno-Gama is already charged with multiple state felonies, including attempted murder, in connection to the incident at Altman’s home<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On Monday, San Francisco prosecutors outlined additional details, charging Moreno-Gama with attempted murder of Altman and a security guard, along with multiple arson and explosives-related offenses. Jenkins said the attack was “willful, deliberate and premeditated,” adding that authorities view it as a direct attempt on Altman\u2019s life.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors also filed charges tied to a second incident at OpenAI headquarters, including attempted criminal threats and attempted arson.<\/p>\n

Federal authorities said the suspect\u2019s actions were not spontaneous. Acting FBI Special Agent in Charge Matt Cobo said Moreno-Gama traveled across state lines in what investigators believe was a “planned” and targeted attack.<\/p>\n

Altman responded to the attack on his blog with a picture of\u00a0his family saying, “I love them more than anything,” and, “normally we try to be pretty private, but in this case I am sharing a photo in the hopes that it might dissuade the next person from throwing a Molotov cocktail at our house, no matter what they think about me.”<\/p>\n

Over the weekend, two more people were arrested in a separate incident, after\u00a0reports of gunfire near Altman\u2019s home, according to San Francisco Police.<\/p>\n

An OpenAI spokesperson told Fox News Digital Monday morning that the incident was unrelated and had no connection to Altman, adding that there was no indication that Altman’s home was being targeted.<\/p>\n
