Members of an Oakland County lottery club purchased several tickets when the Powerball jackpot was more than $1 billion, and they ended up winning a $2 million prize. <\/p>\n
The FDL lottery club in West Bloomfield won the prize, according to Michigan Lottery officials. <\/p>\n
They matched the five white balls, 03-16-29-61-69, in the drawing on Sept. 3 to win a $1 million prize. That prize was multiplied to $2 million due to the Power Play. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe club purchased several Powerball tickets because the jackpot was over $1 billion,\u201d the club\u2019s representative and spokesperson, Sheldon Larky, told Michigan Lottery officials. \u201cThey were checking their tickets after the drawing and didn\u2019t believe it when they realized one was a $2 million winner! They scanned the ticket on the Michigan Lottery app to double-check it and make sure it was real.\u201d<\/p>\n
The winning ticket was purchased at Sunkiss Market at 13535 Puritan Street in Detroit. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe club members said winning a $2 million prize is comforting and unbelievable,\u201d Larky said.<\/p>\n
Powerball plays are $2 each. A Power Play, which multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times (up to a maximum of $2 million) can be added to any play for $1.<\/p>\n
Drawings happen at 10:59 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.<\/p>\n
\u201cCongratulations to the FDL lottery club that won a $2 million prize during the huge Powerball jackpot run last month,\u201d said Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli. \u201cJackpot runs are not only fun and exciting for players, but they also drive sales, which helps the Lottery increase its contribution to the School Aid Fund.\u201d<\/p>\n
