LIVE FROM KCRA THREE NEWS. WE BEGIN WITH BREAKING NEWS. LET’S GET RIGHT TO THAT BREAKING NEWS THAT’S HAPPENING IN SACRAMENTO THIS AFTERNOON. FIREFIGHTERS ARE AT THE SCENE WORKING TO PUT OUT A FIRE AT AN OFFICE BUILDING. THIS IS HAPPENING ON UNIVERSITY AVENUE IN THE CAMPUS COMMONS AREA, NOT FAR FROM HOWE AVENUE AND FAIR OAKS BOULEVARD, JUST ACROSS THE RIVER FROM SACRAMENTO STATE. KCRA 3’S ANDRES VALLE IS THERE LIVE WITH THE LATEST INFORMATION ON THIS. LISA GOLDSON IS QUITE THE FIREFIGHTER. LET ME JUST STEP OUT OF FRAME AND SHOW YOU THE AERIAL ATTACKS THAT WE’RE SEEING RIGHT HERE ON THIS OFFICE BUILDING. WE ALSO SEE A LOT OF FIRE CREWS ATTACKING THIS FROM THE GROUND AS WELL. YOU CAN SEE CREWS RIGHT HERE BY THIS GRASSY HILL. WE’VE SEEN SOME ACTIVE FLAMES COME FROM THIS OFFICE BUILDING. BUT FOR THE MOST PART WE HAVE TWO FIRE TRUCKS ON THE LADDERS RIGHT NOW DOUSING WATER ONTO THIS BUILDING. WE KNOW THAT THIS FIRE STARTED ABOUT MAYBE AN HOUR AGO OR SO, BUT IT IS BLOCKING A LOT OF PORTIONS OF UNIVERSITY AVENUE AS THIS FIRE CONTINUES TO BURN. BUT AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THIS LIVE SHOT HERE, THERE’S A LOT OF SMOKE THAT IS STILL COMING OUT OF IT. YOU CAN STILL SEE SOME AREAS, SOME SPOT FIRES, I GUESS I SHOULD SAY SOME SPOTS OF ACTIVE FLAMES FROM AT LEAST THE GROUND POINT OF VIEW. BUT AGAIN, THESE FIRE CREWS ARE ACTIVELY WORKING TO, YOU KNOW, GET THIS FIRE UNDER CONTROL. WE DO KNOW THAT THIS BUILDING WAS A VACANT OFFICE BUILDING. WE WERE JUST SPEAKING TO SACRAMENTO CITY FIRE REGARDING ALL OF THESE DETAILS AS WELL. BUT IF WE JUST TAKE IT OVER AND SHOW YOU KIND OF THE A LOT OF THE COMMOTION THAT WE’RE SEEING, WE HAVE PEOPLE HERE ON THE SCENE GETTING, YOU KNOW, TRYING TO GET, YOU KNOW, TRY TO SEE THIS WHOLE COMMOTION WITH US AS WELL. BUT AS YOU CAN SEE HERE ON THE STREET, A LOT OF FIRE CREWS ARE ON UNIVERSITY AVENUE BLOCKING THE STREET. THEY’RE ASKING THE PUBLIC TO AVOID THIS AREA. SO FAR, WE KNOW THAT THERE HAVEN’T BEEN ANY INJURIES SO FAR. BUT AGAIN, PARAMEDICS, ALL EMERGENCY CREWS ARE HERE ON SCENE JUST IN CASE THAT ANYBODY GETS INJURED THROUGHOUT THIS FIREFIGHT. BUT AGAIN, A LARGE PLUME OF SMOKE COMING OUT OF THIS OFFICE BUILDING RIGHT NOW, WE JUST SPOKE WITH SACRAMENTO CITY FIRE, THE PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER. HE’S GOING TO BE HEADING OVER TO US HERE IN A COUPLE MINUTES TO GIVE US A LITTLE BIT MORE DETAILS. BUT LIKE I MENTIONED SO FAR NO INJURIES, INJURIES BEING REPORTED SO FAR. BUT YEAH, THERE’S THAT FLAME COMING OUT OF THAT ROOF RIGHT THERE THAT WE’RE SEEING RIGHT NOW. OF COURSE, ALL OF THESE FIRE CREWS ARE WELL AWARE. THEY HAVE THIS ENTIRE BUILDING SURROUNDED. AGAIN, THEY’RE ATTACKING THIS FROM THE GROUND AND FROM AERIAL AS WELL. BUT AGAIN, A LOT OF DETAILS STILL UNFOLDING AS WE ARE HERE ON THE GROUND PROVIDING THAT INFORMATION. AND OF COURSE, WE’LL TALK TO SACRAMENTO HERE IN JUST A
