We\u2019ve (almost) all been there: calling someone the wrong name or the teacher \u201cMommy,\u201d taking a tumble in front of a bunch of co-workers, wearing a shirt inside out or a sweater backward, saying the wrong thing when it\u2019s suddenly totally quiet.<\/p>\n
The San Francisco Giants<\/a> players and staff, too, have had their do-over moments. Well, almost all of them. This week\u2019s question: What\u2019s your most embarrassing moment?<\/p>\n Manager Tony Vitello<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019ve had so many, I\u2019ll tell you what, one gaffe was after I got thrown out of a game in Texas, and there was nowhere for me to go, so I basically watched beyond the left-field wall. And as it got close, we were about to win this highly competitive game, it was 1-1, the series was on the line, and the team rushed the field to celebrate. I wanted to join in and I was sprinting and I got to the bullpen and tried to jump over the wall, and my knees did not clear the wall, so I went face first.<\/p>\n \u201cDefinitely some Texas fans went quickly from being upset about the loss to me making their day and even some of our players that were in the bullpen saw it. But the bottom line is eventually I got out there and celebrated. That\u2019s one I don\u2019t mind sharing, because it has a happy ending.\u201d<\/p>\n Reliever Ryan Walker<\/a>: \u201cI was playing AAU basketball, so probably about 12, and our team scored, but I, for some reason, thought it was the other team. So I grabbed the ball and went to go pass it in and all my team was running down the court, and I was screaming at them like, \u2018What are you doing? Come on, come back!\u2019 And then I realized we\u2019d just scored, so I had to do just the most embarrassing little jog down the court. That was extremely embarrassing.\u201d<\/p>\n Starter Logan Webb<\/a>: \u201cI had an at-bat against Yu Darvish where he threw me nothing but curveballs and the last one I took a swing (mimics extremely awkward whiff) and it was not good. I looked so bad.\u201d<\/p>\n What Webb didn\u2019t mention is that if you google \u201cWebb, Darvish at-bat,\u201d what comes up is a 2021 clip (from that same season) of\u00a0Webb striking out<\/a> Darvish looking at a nasty slider to end the inning.<\/p>\n Reliever Matt Gage: \u201cProbably breaking chairs when I sat in them when I was in high school, because they had those aluminum legs and I\u2019d sit down and they\u2019d snap. I was the same size I am now, 6-4, 240. I\u2019d sit down and all of a sudden the leg would fly out and I\u2019d be on the ground and everyone was laughing. It happened a bunch.\u201d<\/p>\n
