San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks<\/a>)\u00a0General Manager\u00a0Mike Grier\u00a0announced today that the club has\u00a0signed\u00a0defenseman\u00a0Eric Pohlkamp\u00a0to a\u00a0two-year, entry-level contract.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pohlkamp,\u00a022,\u00a0recorded 39\u00a0points (18\u00a0goals,\u00a021\u00a0assists) in\u00a043\u00a0games this season for the University of Denver.\u00a0He\u00a0led\u00a0all\u00a0collegiate\u00a0defensemen in\u00a0points and goals,\u00a0and led\u00a0his team in points,\u00a0shots (188),\u00a0blocked shots (83), and\u00a0finished\u00a0tied for\u00a0second in\u00a0game-winning goals (3).\u00a0His 18\u00a0goals by a defenseman\u00a0tied for third\u00a0all-time in program history, the most such goals by a blueliner since the\u00a01975-76\u00a0season.\u00a0He registered\u00a011\u00a0multi-point games, including three separate three-point games, and scored his first career collegiate hat trick on Nov. 10\u00a0against Bentley University.\u00a0He also recorded a four-game point streak from Nov. 1-14, scoring six points (four goals, two assists).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

By the end of the season, he\u00a0helped Denver capture the National Championship, along with being named the\u00a0HCA National Defenseman of the Month\u00a0and the NCHC\u00a0Defenseman of the Month in November\u00a0after\u00a0helping the Pioneers to a 6-2-0 record, scoring seven goals across the calendar month.\u00a0He ranked tied for first in goals among all NCHC skaters, and\u00a0led all defensemen in the\u00a0category, along with shots (48), points (tied), and was second in blocked shots (11), and\u00a0plus\/minus (+10).\u00a0He\u00a0was also a\u00a0Top-3\u00a0Finalist\u00a0for the 2026 Hobey Baker Award,\u00a0was selected to the AHCA First All-America Team,\u00a0and earned the Sharks Prospect of the Year Award.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Over the course of his career in the NCAA, he has appeared in 119 games, scoring 98\u00a0points (40\u00a0goals,\u00a058\u00a0assists).\u00a0He\u2019s\u00a0earned several awards and accolades during his tenure in college, including\u00a0the NCHC Third All-Star Team (2024-25), the CCHA All-Rookie Team, First All-Star Team, and\u00a0was the regular season champion in the CCHA.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Prior to his time in college, he spent two seasons in the USHL with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, scoring 69 points (23 goals, 46 assists) in 120 career games. In the 2022-23 season, he was named the USHL Defenseman of the Year and First All-Star team\u00a0after scoring 51 points in 59 games, co-leading defensemen in the category. He was tied for\u00a0third\u00a0in assists and was second in goals.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Internationally, he\u00a0represented\u00a0Team USA in the 2024 World Junior Championships, scoring three points in seven games.\u00a0<\/p>\n
