Bird Rock council issues advisory ahead of Halloween<\/p>\n
With La Jolla\u2019s Bird Rock area considered a Halloween hot spot every year, the Bird Rock Community Council issued a word of caution ahead of the festivities Friday, Oct. 31.<\/p>\n
\u201c[The San Diego Police Department] will have a strong presence throughout Bird Rock,\u201d BRCC stated in an e-mail blast. \u201cHalloween falls on Friday this year. Large crowds of families and young people are expected on our residential streets and in our neighborhood. Older tweens and teens may stay out later than customary.\u201d<\/p>\n
The advisory recommended that homeowners turn off their porch lights at 8 p.m. to signal the end of trick-or-treating.<\/p>\n
It added that police will be enforcing laws against vandalism, theft and alcohol consumption on public streets, as well as the Social Host Ordinance, a law that prohibits providing an environment where underage drinking and marijuana use can take place.<\/p>\n
